Any Figure/Bikini Competitiors Out There???

Hello everyone. I have just started using mfp. I have developed a recent interest in figure/bikini competitions and am considering signing up for a competition next year…..still undecided. Either way, I’m still training as if I will compete and would love some like-minded (or just encouraging) friends and any helpful advice for a beginner.

I just competed in my first figure competition in June. There is a group with other figure competitors. It is called Fitness Competitions. You should join.

Search under Groups for 'Fitness Competitions' and join! There are a bunch of us in there.

I've given it some thought (bikini), but I'm starting to think I don't have the right physique. Would love to learn more about it though!

Thanks for all the comments! So, for those of you that have competed or are getting ready to compete, do/did you use a coach or did you do it on your own? If you did use a coach, how far out from your competition did you wait to get one?

I am working with a trainer/coach right now. I have been for 2 months and have 12 weeks until competition. I think I'll stick with her up until comp and maybe even after. I wasn't really prepared for the investment, but I feel it's needed. I work full-time and I feel I need help with the accountability and questions along the way.

I will be working with a coach when I begin competing. Most people usually start a competition prep about 12-16 weeks out depending on how much progress needs to be made. I would get in touch with a few different coaches a few months out from the date of the show you want to do to see about their availability and to make sure you both work well together.
