I am 20 years old and am a healthy weight but I wouldn't mind losing a few pounds and getting toned...my inner thighs are the main problem...no matter what I do they never seem to want to get firm on the inside :( It truly sucks! In ONE month, I'll be on a cruise ship headed to the Bahama's and will be practically living in a bikini for a week and there will be tons of pictures taken that I will have to look back at and I would really like to be pleased with those!!! If you have any tips, let me know! I also work full time, and have a family to get home to every night so the gym isn't really an option anymore...I need things I can do at home that are quick but effective!!!! Feel free to add me :))

If you have a fitness ball or a stress ball type material, you can put it between your legs, while squeezing them together to strengthen you thighs and muscle in it. It would just be like holding a stress ball and squeezing it.

Well as of right now, I don't have anything like that but I will def look into getting one! So for the time being, is there any type of excercise I can do with just my body? Anything I can do anytime I get a free minute, even if I'm at work or somewhere? I can't carry a big ball around work lol

You really can't spot reduce. Do some overall good leg workouts. Squats mainly. That'll do the trick.
  • sumo squats.

Just thought I would throw in that you already look incredibly awesome in a bikini, from looking at your pics! But, I know we are often our own worse critics. Just know that you are gorgeous!

Can't spot reduce but I really do believe that you can lengthen the look of muscles with a few exercises. The New York City Ballet workout video is amazing or try pilates.I always look much taller and leaner when I am doing workout that focus on stretching the muscles.

Have you tried tensing the muscle?

Wouldn't life be perfect if we could spot reduce!? But I would be perfectly fine with lengthening the look of my muscles if that really works! I'm so short (5'2) which is why I am such a critique on my thighs...I feel that for my height, they could lose a few inches around...and thank you @anetterose44....so I guess squats, and stretches it is!

I have a Jackie Warner DVD that I bought from Amazon for like 10 bucks. It called Power Circuit Training. Lots of squats on it. I can definitely feel my legs and everything else getting stronger.

I've found Pilates works/worked really well for me and my thunder thighs. When I was doing Pilates regularly, my legs looked the best they ever had. I need to get back into it! Since you don't have time for the gym, you could look for Pilates videos on youtube, or either buy or rent some DVDs. Exhale: Core Fusion is a really fabulous line -- their Thighs & Glutes video really works wonders. Don't forget your local library as an excellent, free source of exercise books & videos.

The Butt Bible you can watch it on youtube. You do each level for two weeks. Lower levels on Monday, Upper levels on Tues, rest/cardio of your choice on Wed, then lower level thrusday, upper level on friday. Weekends are rest or cardio of your choice. It gets tougher with each workout, but I have notice a big difference in both my rear and my thights, They are looking a lot more toned.

First, I think your thighs look great. You are a month away. Not much to do now but learn to love them (or act like you do), or get some cute board shorts.

Second, thighs are often the very last place a woman lose fat. It is for me. I was just reading this:

    http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/fasted-cardio-and-fat-loss-qa.html

I plan to start adding in fasted HIIT, followed by steady state cardio (which isn't what he mentions in the article but what is apparently in his book, which I'm thinking about buying).

Also, if you aren't already, eat at a moderate calorie deficit, lift heavy weights and eat 1 gram of protein per pound of body mass.

Sounds great to me! I'm more focused on thighs and butt at the moment! I'd like to strengthen my abs a little more as well but these ideas sounds great! Thanks everyone :))

You know I'm willing to look crazy if I have to or we could just go to my office and close the door :indifferent:

Pilates with a resistance band - side scissor leg lifts & leg circles (loop band around the bottom of your foot & hang onto it during lifts) . On this DVD - 10 Minute Solutions Slim & Sculpt Pilates http://www.amazon.com/10-Minute-Solution-Pilates--Pilates/dp/B000S1MM84/ref=sr_1_2?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1343681623&sr=1-2&keywords=slim+&+sculpt+pilates

Otherwise Exhale Fusion DVDs (previously mentioned) are pretty intense, they should work nicely

you have to do the squats the right way or you will strain your muscles and hurt yourself more than it helps lol but as I said in my message to you, the exercises I gave will help you succeed in what you want to reach

In all honesty, with one month before your vacation, you're gonna have to just love the way you look. Maintain a small calorie deficit and lift some heavy weights.... but there's not a lot of good, honest work that can magically change your body in a month.

And believe me, I'll still be at least 40 pounds overweight when I go on vacation next month, and I will be loving every second in my bikini.

Yes just tensing it and poking it to test for firmness. Are you sure you're not obsessing over relaxed muscle since you're a healthy weight?

If you're trying to increase firmness, then increasing flexibility is not going to do that, how could it?

I have no idea! That's why I'm here asking this question lol I doubt I'm just obsessing over relaxed muscle because even when I'm trying to tense my muscles, my inner thighs are so jiggly! My outer thighs don't look bad and when I flex them you can seriously see the muscle...I'm fine with that part but the inner part is just gross to me :(( Even when I'm standing with my feet a good bit apart it seems they're always touching lol I don't love that!

Try plank jacks. Put yourself into plank position (up on your hands not your elbows). Then do quick "jumping jack" movements with your legs, in and out in and out. This works several muscles but you'll feel it most in your inner and outer thighs.

Also, go buy 2 resistance bands (You can buy inexpensive bands at walmart). Tie them loosely around the legs of a long dining room table or something similar. put your legs through the bands and pull your knees together. The resistance bands should make it difficult for you to do several repetitions of this. If its too hard or not hard enough retie the bands accordingly. This is similar to machines at the gym that work your inner thighs but much less expensive and you can do it at home!
  • heres something i do,and ive noticed my inner thighs are sore and getting slimmer, hope this helps
