I need ideas!!! I start work at 7am, and am not hungry til at least 8 or 9. So... Im left to eating things I can grab and eat on the go. However, Im sick of protein shakes, or fiber one bars, etc. I need variety in my life! Today I could find anything so I ended up snacking all morning because i had no solid meal to start my day and its now 2pm and Ive already had almost 1000 cals on stupid snacks like rice cakes and special k bars.

Anyone have suggestions for something filling and easy to grab and go for bfast? Preferably nothing processed...

    Hardboiled eggs, yogurt

If you have a microwave at work oatmeal

Or you could make healthier muffins with no sugar in them

Peanut butter and banana? I do fruit smoothies, but those don't really work if you aren't hungry right away.

I also do oatmeal with different fruit in it. You can throw the dry oatmeal in a plastic to go container along with all the fixings, then just add water later.

Hard boiled eggs work well too.

Egg salad sandwich (make the salad the night before)
Cereal in a bowl that you eat as munchies
Fruit and a glass of milk

If you have a toaster oven at work you could keep whole grain bagels or english muffins and peanut butter or almond butter at work and make them when you get hungry

I work at 7am too. Usually I try to bring an apple or and orange for breakfast. When I get bored with fruit I try yogurt, instant oatmeal, and dehydrated fruit. I pick things I can eat on my first 15 minute break or something I can scarf down in the back room somewhere. lol Another thing I love is bolthouse farms and/or naked juice. I know you're tired of protien shakes but both of these brands have a huge variety of juices and smoothies that literally keep me full for hours. Bolthouse farms has a chocolate protien drink that is delicious and there are 2 servings in each bottle. Naked Juice gives you full fruit servings in every bottle. Those things are PACKED full of good stuff. You can pick a juice or you can pick a smoothie. Same idea different consistency. If you havent tried naked juice yet I highly recommend the green machine ( I think thats what its called ) It looks disgusting because its the color of seaweed but it tastes soooo good. Even better when its half frozen!

Thank you! I will try the naked juice variety... can i find at Safeway? I like to alternate... some days I want food and some days I dont. So this is a good mix.
  • Greek yogurt with blueberries and cinnamon are definately my go to when I can't find the time to make oatmeal and egg whites, but I highly reccomend pumpkin muffins.

There are several healthy pumpkin muffin recipes out there that use things like coconut flour and agave instead of white flour and sugars and the best part is you can make a weeks worth at one time with different variations like shaved almonds or cranberries. They are delishious.

An apple and a 1/4 c. raw almonds also do the trick for me. They both take a lot of chewing which makes you feel like you ate a lot and the protein and fiber helps keep you satisfied longer. Hope this helps some :)

I always do real easy breakfast with my boys as they don't like milk in thier cereal yet. We do a lot of toast with peanut butter or even just a peanut butter sandwich. They also like yogurt and fruit smoothies, which if you have a fridge at work you could always stock it up at the beginning of the week. Bagels are always a good filling option. A previous poster mentioned a toaster or toaster oven, if you have one at work you could always make up pancakes then freeze them in individual bags. If you feel like pancakes just grab one and go.

I'm in love with the Clif energy bars for breakfast when I'm in a hurry.

I also make a toast and egg and eat on the way or pack it in my lunch to eat later

I take oatmeal and fix at work with a banana and almonds

what about a yogurt with a small baggie of granola to put on top? Or a single serve cottage cheese and some berries? In the winter time, my kids like me to make home made granola bars from http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2010/02/21/thick-chewy-granola-bars/ the recipe *I* use is about 300 calories.

have you tried the refrigerator oatmeal? there are so many... you need to make them the night before... and such a variety..... I just use a lock&lock plastic container (although the mason jars are fun and cute when at home)

I work early also and generally eat breakfast at my desk. I take hard boiled eggs, yogurt, or a small baggie of dry cereal (my current favorite is Krave). When I'm tired of those things I'll make up a fruit salad or grab a mini bagel.
I've been looking for other ideas too so I'll be looking over everyone's suggestions!

Just because it's breakfast, doesn't mean you have to eat breakfast type foods. If you can find Joseph's pitas or tortillas in your area - only around 60/70 cals each- buy some and do a PB&J wrap. You can preset before you go to bed and grab it as you head out the door. No matter what you eat, just make sure there's some protein to tide you ovre until lunch.
