Any horsey girls?

Or boys of course.

I was just wondering how many of us have horses and whether our goals are linked to them in anyway.

I have two horses, a 15hh Welsh Section D called Sherbert and a 15.3hh Arab x PRE called Rocky. I ride Rocky more and my husband rides Sherb. I don't do much with them apart from lots of hacking. I try to ride 3 - 5 times per week and would like to improve my riding fitness to enable me to do some schooling with both of them and know that I'm not blocking them or making it hard work for them.

Anybody else?

Just upping this in case anybody missed it and is horsey, there must be more than me surely?
  • My best friend has a farm and I practically live there!!

I ride a mare named Martha, percheron x morgan . Not sure how tall she is, I'd say around 15 hands. I love her to pieces.

I try to ride three times a week.

yay! Percheron x Morgan though, is that a common cross over there? You don't see many percherons here, although there is actually one on our yard. She is mahooooosive, not massively tall, but honest she looks like a hippo, is your girl pretty thick set?

I have an Appalossa named Zidan (Danny) and a Mustang X Quarter horse named Sox. I used to do jumping & English Show with Danny, but he is now retired (he is 32 years old).
  • I used to have a Quarter Horse, Mister. I got him when I was 14, and had him until I was 23. He passed away sadly. (He had really bad allergies.) I can't wait until I can ride again! I miss it so much!
  • Yeah, she takes after me... :blushing:

We got her in May and I bonded with her right away. She was pretty out of shape and hadn't seen a ferrier in ages. She has slimmed out a lot, she has been ridden so much. Her hoofs are trimmed and she prances about.

I'd say she is mostly morgan to look at. They are pretty common around here.

    Horses are the best.

Nice to meet another horsey person.

We run beef cattle and have quarter horses...they are poetry in motion, and my favorite one is a bay gelding called "Mohican".

I use to have horses before we moved to Germany several years ago. I had a Black Paso Mustang I bought from a ridding stable his name was Black Jack,Hubby had a Racing Quarter that we got from a sale of horses that were starved and saved his name was Starfire we also had a Pinto wesh pony he was blind in one eye..We had to sale them when we went to Germany.I do miss them and having one; I miss riding when I want to and as long as I want.. but I just don't have the time to give them the way they need it.. I have been around horses since i was 5yrs old. My mom had one when I was in her tummy also.LOL
I broke and trained ponies to harness and carts and have worked on several Horse Ranches as well as a groom, stablehand and exerciser.I have shown in several shows under cart, halter and riding classes. My girlfriend and I use to build barns and stables out of boxes and popcicle sticks.

I have 4...me, husband and kids started riding about 6 months ago. Really wished I would have started when I was young and not have waited til I was 41. I don't ride as much as I would like right now with the temps as high as they are. I also really would like to get some weight off because I let that worry me with the horses. We have have a missouri foxtrotter that is 15.2 that belongs to me and 2 qh's.. one that is 15hh and the other 16 and then my husband rides an American Saddlebread that is 16.1 and weighs 1350. Would love to have you as a friend

Extremely jealous of all of you!
I'd die to own one of those gorgeous animals!

There aren't even really any stables where I'm from, and no matter how hard I look I can't find work at a stable just to be around horses.

    You lucky bunches!

I have a horse.. an older quarter horse who is amazing and wonderful! He's trained in hunter/jumper and dressage but I just moved him to the Biltmore Estate and we've been enjoying the nearly 100 miles of trails there.

I'd love to friend some other horsey girls so feel free to add me!

Crewing for me girlfriend, ex running partner who is doing Tevis this year. Thinking I may have to do it once in my life as I live and ride in these canyons. No way I could get through it in my current shape, so time to get back in shape. Maybe a goal for 2013 if I can find a horse capable.
