Surgery? Yes or no?

Sorry, I didn't know what to name this topic but it is my question and it is directly related to my fitness level.

I have broken my foot in 2 places and need to have a bone removed and 2 spurs cut off and my big toe joint 'cleaned' out.

Here is the problem.... If I do have the surgery, I am at high risk of having a disabling blood clot due to a blood clotting disorder I have. I will have to go off Plavix (blood thinner) for a week before surgery.

If I don't have the surgery I will never be able to use my foot correctly and will always be in pain. At the moment the only real exercise I get is from biking. I can accept that but having issues and pain with every step I take is depressing. On the other hand, I don't want to be permanently disabled from a stroke! I'm going to take my time and wait as long as I can before I have this done, if I choose to do it.

I have researched the internet and haven't found any info on my blood disorder and surgery, combined. It is called the MTHRFR gene mutation and it causes my blood to clot more than normal. No, it doesn't stand for what it looks like.. but sometimes I think so. lol

If anyone else has this and has had surgery in the past, please let me know what you did and how things turned out.

What would you do??

Thank you in advance.

Wow, thats hard. My mother is on an injectible blood thinner because she is always throwing clots. They mostly go to her lungs which makes it impossible for her to breath.... Anyway, I don't have any advice for you because this is a very personal decision, just want to say good luck with whatever you choose. Its a hard decision - Not one I'd want to have to make for myself. Weigh out your pros and cons on everything, and make the best choice for you.

Can you try physical therapy for it?
