Where do you get your food? The same rules apply no matter where you go -- achieve your desired caloric deficit, avoid sugars and white starchy foods, and get a balance of nutrients. But of course this is more difficult in convenience stores or some restaurants, but it is always do-able (from my experience).0

You could take a small food scale to the table with you, weigh what you eat and then come back here and log it. It shouldn't take you long to figure out much and what you can eat and still stay within your goals. You may even be able to ask the kitchen staff for the values of the food they serve.0

Yogurt, cottage cheese, fresh fruit, unsweetened cereal, to which you add a little sugar if necessary. Giant muffins, waffles, pancakes, and French toast should be avoided or regarded as treats.
It will be hard, because you're probably in a low mood already. But take a walk or see a movie -- don't distract yourself with empty-calorie food.0 -
Sorry to hear about your home, have you got much longer in hotels?
I stay in Hotels 2-4 nights a week for work and find this so difficult. I've settled on a few staples, breakfast is a poached egg on toast and fresh fruit. Lunch a tuna or chicken salad and evening meal is something like a continental meat platter (ham, salami etc) or cold salmon with bread / salad. If I get bored with eating in my room (and I do!) I check restaurant websites and try and stick to a lowish calorie meal - steak and salad, chicken tama rice, nandos etc. it's not easy and makes it so difficult to keep the weight off but I keep trying.0 -

Sorry about your home, were you in the colorado fires? Anyways, you could keep healthy snacks on hand, like nuts and seeds, but also fruit. You could always get and electric burner and use that for alittle bit of cooking...0

If you're asking about how to *pay attention* to what you eat, then that will be a problem of motivation and mindset. Since your house burned down and you are displaced, you probably are feeling pretty crappy. Write down your diet and fitness goals somewhere obvious and do whatever mindfulness routines you have to keep on task.
If you're asking about how to *record* what you eat while in a hotel, this is no different than in any other living situation. Record your meals in their base constituents and use the MFP app to calculate the calories. You know, like always...
I'm sorry about your house. That's terrible!0 -
it's more of that I don't know all of what they use., serving sizes, etc.
I usually have an omelet for breakfast, They put cheese, onions, peppers, some meat, and what ever else they have for that day. I don't know how many eggs they use, how much oil they put on their griddle, or how much cheese they use. They also have these really good scones that I'm addicted to. They have soup at night, again no clue whats all in it. I miss home cooked meals so if i want anything normal I end up eating out.
i see people being scared about eating out and not knowing the calories and everything going into that food. Well I really don't have any of that control that i am used to.0
