Endomondo vs. MFP - Calorie Burned?

I did a search and found a few mentions but nothing directly answering my curiosity. I started using the Endomondo on my I-phone about two weeks ago. I'm still learning somethings about it. I also have read several posts about the MFP's calorie burning on the exercise tab being too high for actual calories burned. My question: My endomondo gives me several more calories burned than the MFP site does. Am I doing something wrong? I've been using the lower MFP numbers for My Diary entries, but I was really curious if anybody else was getting strong differences on their workout calories. Today I used the sport cycling on Endomondo and rode for 83 minutes at average speeds of 11 to 12 mph. The MFP tab only gave me 818 calories burned vs. the Endomondo that suggests that I burned 1219 calories..............Reasons?.....................Anybody else

My guess is endomondo takes into account gradient, hills ect that take more calories to do. I use a HRM, but I can bike for 2 miles on two different routes, same distance. MFP says the same calories for both routes ( usually way over estimated). Endomondo gives me around 224 for route 1: flat no hills. I get 357 for route 2: lots of hills. I actually find endomondo to be closer in calories then MFP according to my monitor. That's what I use to figure out calories burned.0

Endomondo is guessing and MFP is guessing. Even an HRM is guessing. And, the calories in is a guess. People seem to think that all this is a precise science. It's not at all. It's off by huge margins, all of it. It's all a big guessing game. Dont get distressed. Just use ONE OF THEM consistently so that your results remain consistent as a result if your workouts.0

whoah, seriously, quit with the bumping!
The second poster has the right answer.
That said, neither endo nor mfp will give you a truly accurate estimate, as they're based on average rather than individual performance. If you want to be more accurate, you want something that will factor in heart rate too.0 -
bmp for the fun of it0

both are wildly inaccurate and just very ,very rough guestimates based on your weight/height/kind and duration of activity. only a HRM will give you true accuracy.0

Endomondo actually has a heart rate monitor that works with it... that is, if you're willing to pony up the cash for it. I have no idea how well it works...
