I hate eating.

Does anyone else find eating to be a chore? It causes a bunch of stress! I cant enjoy anything because I'm obsessing over what's in it. How do I get over this mentality?

Yes....I hate eating and I hate cooking. I'd love to hear some advice on how to get over this...I find this whole process very overwhelming for the little success I've had...6.5 lbs down in 50 days. Ugh.

    I love to eat.

Just try to make better choices now. If you do that more often than you make poor choices, it all comes out fine in the end.
  • Nope, that's what got me here in the first place!!!

Seriously though, if you are feeling that overwhelmed then perhaps it's time to see your doctor.
  • I love eating. Sometimes it can be best to stop logging if you find yourself obsessing over calorie counting.

I'm your height and weigh 7 pounds more than your goal weight, and I love food. Trust me, it can be done. Food is not the enemy. Considering your history I think you should pay a lot of attention to what you're feeling about food. Are you in any kind of treatment or therapy currently?
  • I understand what you're saying I think. I LOVE eating with no consequence, but when I know I have to log it's not fun to eat all fruits, veggies and lean meats. The "fun" of eating is gone bc it's not the yummy crap I shouldn't be eating. Is that what you meant? Because I still like to eat bc I don't like being hungry. lol

So you've lost nearly a pound a week and you're complaining? ((Sigh)) That's a perfectly healthy and reasonable rate. I don't see how someone can HATE eating and be overweight/need to lose.

You're 5'7", If your profile info is up to date, I doubt you need to lose an additional 20 lbs. Focus on being healthy, not getting any thinner. Don't think of food as being the cause of your weight gain, but as the source that's necessary to fuel your health. You're young, don't ruin your body now by starving yourself which can lead to detrimental long term effects.

"I'm a recovered bulimic looking to lose weight the healthy and sustainable way this time.

I gained a lot of weight in recovery (I got up to 170 lbs!) from my new anti-depressant cocktail and the shock of my body actually eating. So I'm here to reverse that."

This sounds like a problem to me, you need to still be working with professionals if you are stating that you hate eating... not trying to be mean, but this isn't a healthy approach for someone in recovery.

I do find that it's a very different eating experience now that I am eating more mindfully. That bag of Oreo's isn't my friend anymore, and that means I have to find my comfort elsewhere. In that way, I have had to fight discomfort with this new way of life. But I can't honestly say I would use the word hate for my feelings.

I LOVE FOOD and eating for that matter. Maybe you need to seek professional help as there could be an underlying problem.

Well, actually, I'm not overweight and never have been. I only have about 10 lbs to lose. I hate to cook so the habit of eating things that were just convenient and not necessarily healthy is what made me put on those 10 lbs.

Your point is? This poor girl is in recovery for an ED, she needs help and support and to learn to appreciate food and how to eat it to sustain her... this is no place to be encouraging unhealthy behaviors and thoughts...
  • I took a look at your profile, and it says that you are a recovered bulimic. You really should go see a therapist or a nutritionist. They can make a meal plan for you to follow and help you overcome your issues with food.

You may not have gotten professional help, but it appears as though you are fighting your own demons.

Start cooking your own food from fresh ingredients. Then, you'll know exactly what you're eating. And, chances are you'll end up eating more vegetables and calories won't be quite such an issue.

I've been feeling the same way the last couple of weeks but that is because my doctor changed my anti depressants.
