need new ideas

I started July 4 with a goal of over 100#'s to lose. I have hit a wall and need new ideas of what I can eat. I'm getting bored eating taco salads (no shell), checken adn cheese rollups, grilled chicken, baked fish, fajita meat, etc. I need something else to eat - any ideas? PS - I'm not that good of a cook, but I will try anything. Thank you!

I don't really like cooking, but I have made some amazing food using recipes from www.dashingdish.com and www.skinnytaste.com. Easy recipes, different food, SUPER GOOD, and they have all the calories/WWP listed as well. Many of their recipes can also be found in MFP's food database.

I get almost all of my recipes from marthastewart.com. There are a lot of healthy, lower calorie meals that include lots of vegetables. Just search using one or two ingredients and you'll come up with lots of recipes to choose from.

mm chicken breast cubed(ish) n cooked in a skillet in it's own juice w/ lemon n pepper yum.. +quinoa n a cup of the vegetable of the day(or 1/2 cup w/e) change the seasoning for a diff taste, I also sub the quinoa for brown rice or wheat pasta(or smart taste since im the only one in my house who likes whole grain..)
or sub the chicken for various beans, or red meat or other chicken parts etc..
can cut back on the meat seasoning and add a sauce or cream of ___ soup
    endless options..

This simple variable recipe has gotten me through a lot of meals with an ever changing taste! ;)

EDIT: I'm not a cook, I like to keep it simple. Heck the first time I cooked actual meat(other than ground or preformed something or another) was only a couple of months ago lol
  • I made the following recipe from someone else's post. I put it on a flat out with some blue cheese salad dressing, romaine lettuce, and a tomato. It was very good.

  • If you can buy the cook book from your newsagent called "SYMPLY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE"by Annette Sym, you will find some excellent recipes there and they are all diet and diabetic friendly. I have 5 of her books and I wouldn't be without them. Book no. 5 also has a 28 day diet plan. Hope this will help. God Bless.
  • Believe it or not, some of those frozen meals are really good, and only 280 calories or below. Michalina's has some good ones, as does Lean Cuisine. I work alot so these meals are saviors to me.

How about some egg dishes or turkey sausage vegetable dishes. Try making some soups. There are so many opportunities out there...if you can have pastas try some stuff with whole wheat pasta. Bake some sweet potatoes with sauteed vegetables and Turkey Brats feel free to add me as a friend and ask for recipe ideas I'm a chef by trade.

Start surfing websites like pinterest or foodgawker. See something interesting? Build the recipe in the MFP recipe builder and see if you can afford the calories (or what size serving you can afford).

Don't want to do that much work? Surf any of these sites for healthier ideas (most have calories and macro breakdowns with the recipe):
    Allrecipes - http://allrecipes.com/
    Heart Healthy Living - http://www.hearthealthyonline.com/
    Skinny Kitchen - http://www.skinnykitchen.com/
Skinny Taste - http://www.skinnytaste.com/ (there's a gergillion MFPers that will recommend her site, too)
    World's Healthiest Foods - http://whfoods.org/
Chocolate Covered Katie - http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/ (yes, it's safe for work   )
Elana's Pantry - http://www.elanaspantry.com/ (Lots of gluten free stuff, if you're into/need that)
    Eating Well - http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes_menus

Most of the commercial (read as non-blog) sites, like Eating Well or FoodTV or Rachel Ray's site, have daily/weekly recipe emails you can subscribe to as well. Ideas and information are out there, just need to find it...

I go to most of the sites listed for ideas. I will try about anything that has low calories and low sugar and spice it up with some dried herbs.I have been trying the South Beach to start this time around. I have tried MFP a few times but this is the first time I found the community.

Feel free to add me as a friend.

Just remember you can do anything you put your mind 2.

Skinnytaste.com! Healthy Baked Chicken Nuggets, Spinach Lasagna Rolls (reminds me I should make these again soon), Chicken Parmesan Burger, so so much more!

DH and I grilled a big steak the other night and saved the part we didn't eat to slice up for cheese steak sandwiches tonight.

Shredded BBQ Chicken (in the crock pot) sandwiches

    Breakfast for dinner

    Turkey Burgers
  • Just throwing this out there, try paleo for a bit. What I like about it aside from the obvious health benefits is that the ingredients are simple, if it doesn't come out of the ground or have a momma...don't eat it. Preparation can be as simple or as difficult as you want to make it. Grill or broil some fish or chicken, mashed coli flour/potato's, salads, baked potato, blah blah blah. you get the idea. I just picked up a Paleo book from COSTCO called "Everyday Paleo" . Cool book with fitness stuff, recipe's and how-to's.
  • Thank you all so much! I will try each and every one of these. I get so bored so easily. Thanks for the support and knowledge!
