This morning I woke up at my usual 4:45am to go to the gym, I made a coffee and decided I wasn't going to go this morning and go tonight and push twice as hard to make up for it. I logged into MFP and changed my tune. I said to myself "your up at the butt crack of dawn.. get your butt to the gym!" so off I went. I got to the gym by 5:10am and was flooded with motivation! I did my usual strength training then hit the treadmill.

I decided to try and beat my personal best time/distance for jogging/running. (note: I am NOT a runner in the least, but you gotta start somewhere right?) I kept pushing myself and pushing and pushing. I managed to run over a mile non stop! Now my time wasn't phenomenal (22min) but hell I kept on going even after my goal of 1 mile! (1.67mi) I felt so great that after my 10min 3.4mph cool down walk I jumped onto the bike and did another 25mins!!

I am feeling very proud and accomplished this morning! I am here to tell you that even if you can't manage 60 seconds running (I couldn't about 3 weeks ago...thought I might die actually) that if you keep pushing yourself, ignore your mind saying you have to stop, you can slow down a little but KEEP GOING!! I believe in all of you!!!!

xx Nikki

  • GREAT JOB! Doesn't feel awesome to meet goals and to push your body! I started running in the spring and LOVE it! I never thought I would be able to run what I can. I am not yet where I want to be but its fun to make goals and meet them. Keep it up!

Was the 22 min for the mile or for the 1.67 miles? That would be only 2.7 mph for the mile. If you cooled down at 3.4 mph, I'm thinking you're not taking all the credit you deserve. If that was for the whole 1.67 miles, then that's only a 13 minute mile which is better than I've ever managed.

Either way, congrats for taking life by the horns and pushing yourself!

I was between 4.1 and 5.5 for 20mins, so it varies I guess then 3.4 for the final 10
ETA: I started at 4.1 then within the first 3mins I was at 4.5-5.5
