I am looking for low sodium recipies mostly for dinner or lunch. I was brought up on hamburger helper and heavy sauces so Im having a hard time finding anything delicious. At the moment I feel like Im doomed to eating plain boiled chicken and green beans.

Why not use seasonings for recipes where you would usually use salt? For example, paprika, garlic powder, and pepper on chicken. It's also pretty easy to prepare a low-sodium tomato sauce at home that you can then use for things like ground meat and pastas. I had a grandfather who couldn't eat too much salt, so we would just prepare food without it (when possible), and then everyone would season to taste.0

Try looking on sparkpeople.com (another diet website) for recipes or foodnetwork.com (I have never had a failed recipe from here, but you have to watch as some can be less healthy).
Making your own recipes will be the best way to cut sodium as most processed stuff is loaded with sodium. I often make batches of food over the weekend or do the prep work so that I have lunches made or dinners ready to be cooked during the week.
A few ideas from things I recently did are:
-I made moussaka and put them in individual servings and froze for lunches and dinners
-Chop and froze peppers, onion, tomato and some pork sausage for breakfast burritos (just heat in the pan, add eggs/whites when the liquid is gone, and put on a burrito shell maybe with cheese)
-Chopped veggies and made my own stir-fry mix (I hate the pre-made since they always include mushrooms and no edamame), now I just pull it out when I want some stir-fry, add soy sauce, oyster sauce, shiracha, garlic powder, and a bit of sesame oil; since it was frozen the veggies put off a lot of water so they can steam themselves; cook meat separately if desired or chop up leftovers
-Pasta sauce-put into individual servings and freeze
-Pesto sauce-put into individual servings and freeze; I make it with half or less of the oil recommended because I will cut chicken into slices, cook it in water and then add the pesto when the chicken is done but there is still water so the water/broth thins the sauce rather than oil
Feel free to friend me if you would like some more ideas.0 -
I recently purchased two cookbooks that have tons of low sodium recipes. One of them is published by the American Heart Association. I've tried lots of the recipes in there and they are really great.
I can't remember the name of the other one, but I will post it this afternoon when I get home from work. It has 500 low sodium recipes in it. I've tried several of them also.0 -
The other cookbook is titled: "500 Low Sodium Recipes" by **** Logue. It has a lot of various cuisines, Italian, Asian, Mexican, Latin and Caribbean, as well as the old standbys like mashed potatoes, barbecue spare ribs, etc. Lots and lots of good recipes.0
