Question for those with Polar FT4s or the like

I have the warrior dash coming up in September. I'd like to wear my HRM but I'm slogging through the mud and probably standing water. Will I hurt the watch or the strap. I've had it for about 3 months now and have made no attempt to open it or anything.

Haven't tried that but from what I recall when I read the manual it is all waterproof. I have read other posters say they often lose signal when using it swimming. I'd imagine if you get mud between the sensors and your skin you're going to lose contact and thus signal.
My FT4 quit on me 2 or 3kms into a half-m and it was a pain in the *kitten* as I kept messing about with it whilst running along. Eventually I took it off and put it in my pocket where it bounced around for the next 18kms.
I felt totally lost without the HRM for about 15-20 minutes but relaxed once I realised my pace and breathing was fine. I ended up beating my expected time.
I think there could be too many factors in your warrior dash to guarantee you it will keep working. So long as you won't get thrown mentally (like I was) then give it a try. Personally mine will be left at home for my next race.0 -
I have a polar Ft70, I didn't wear it when I did the warrior dash because I was scared I would ruin it with all the mud I had to go through. Honestly if it was me, I wouldn't wear it. The warrior dash was more of a race for fun, I didn't worry about what my HR was if I was in certain zones. Know on that note I did see some people with HRM on, so it is very doable. It's all up to what you wanna do.0

It's waterproof to the point where you can wear it swimming no problem (but don't press any buttons in water). The mud will interfere though, I think, if it gets between the censors and your chest.0

hmmm, might have to just guestimate my burn. I would imagine it would be close to a 4 mile run without obstacles. So if I do one a couple days before, I'll have a close enough point.0
