Hey All,

I am getting ready for this party where I will be seeing people I haven't seen in a long time, celebrating our engagement. I've been doing great, lost some good weight, and then last week we had company and I kind of fell off track. I just want to quickly shed the 4 pounds I gained before the party. I am not working this week, so I am on my way out to spin class. Need to know what would be the best 7 day method to lose the weight so I can be "caught up". Eating raw? Eating vegetarian? please keep in mind, I will be burning at least 1000 calories a day for the next 7 days. What else will ensure that glorious hip bone protruding feeling? I have lost all the weight slowly and steady and just need a little bit of a quicker option for this week.

Any and all advice, ideas are appreciated. Even more so if it is a method you've used yourself. I keep reading about the fruits, veggies, soup 7 day method. I've heard good and bad. Thanks! :)

I hope that's not a judgmental little smirk. I am using this site for that which it was intended. Seeking advice and support. Don't dig my post? It's cool. You don't have to.

so you are wanting to lose the 4 pounds you gained before the party? Did you gain all 4 lbs last week while you were "off track"?

If so, it is pretty much all water weight. Just limit salt and drink a lot of water for a few days.

If you're saying you gained 4 pounds of water weight, watch your sodium and drink plenty of water.

If you're trying to lose 4 pounds of fat in a week, good luck with that. It's not realistic to think that you can lose a significant amount of weight in 7 days.

Not judgemental, more... baffled. Anyway, there's really nothing I can suggest to make your hipbone protrude in 7 days if it's not already protruding. That's not sarcasm, just being realistic. The good news is, there's a good chance that most of what you gained last week is not fat, so it won't have made a visible difference anyway. Hopefully, your guests will be more focussed on celebrating your engagement than what you weigh.

I usually struggle to go to the bathroom after eating bad. Not sure if that's an issue for you but here are some little tricks I do to help: drink 1-2 tsp apple cider vinegar diluted in water twice a day before a meal (new for me but works!) or drink yerba matte tea. I use to think extra fiber helps, which sometimes it does, but other times too much fiber makes it worse.

by being off track I ate some refined sugar, had a couple of cocktails and some non-gluten free bread, didn't work out for 4 days in a row....and didn't drink water like I should have AND I started a new kind of birth control. So yeah, probably dealing with more than water weight. Don't expect a miracle, but would like to make sure I do everything I can to get back to my healthful routine. and If I could just feel accomplished by not letting my little sidetrack consume me, but rather inspire me to get back to feeling great than I would be happy.

That doesn't exactly sound like too much of a bender to me! Just get rid of the water weight and get back to the grind.

New birth control? A shift in your hormones could easily cause 4 pounds of bloat.

    THIS!!!!!
Plus, if you are gluten senstitive and had non-gluten free bread, that's going to cause some bloat too.

The new BC will do CRAZY things to your body so keep an eye open.

some people say body wraps work for instant water weight loss..and is good for about 7-10 lbs. But remember its going to be temporary

I will actually answer your question: Stick to lean protein, veggies and a bit of fruit. I find veggie soups to be helpful when trying to lose water weight (plus a little fat) before an event. Roast a bunch of your favorite veggies in the oven until browned with a spray of olive oil, put in a pot, add some broth, boil for maybe 15-20 mins or until everything is very soft and then puree. Eat that with some lean meat/tofu or beans. You can make a few different batches so you don't get bored. If you are not a lover of soups (I am, could eat it very day) then just stick to the veggies and protein, and fruit (berries are best) for snacks/dessert. That should get you back on track.
  • Water with lemon juice acts as a mild diuretic. The four pounds are prob just water weight. Add a couple glasses of that a day (it's yummy too) and eat cleanly and I bet you'll be back where you were!
