Getting off a liquid diet / Food poisoned!

Hey guys and gals,
I've been on a liquid diet for a little bit over a day... more like a day and a half. I started the diet based on docs advice after a horrible case of food poisoning.... Thanks Subway! Not!
I'm thinking maybe giving it until tomorrow to try solid food. Really, I'm not even hungry. But can't get nearly enough calories this way, and getting a headache probably from lack of calories. My stomach still is crampy and upset and I feel yucky and weak.
What do I do? What should I attempt to eat? When? Open to all opinions! Food posining happened Friday. Got sick Sunday evening. Started liquid diet Sunday. Haven't eaten food since Sunday 6:00pm.
Doctor said to let my intestines rest for a day or two. Lots of bleeding / yuck!
Open to all advice!

Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, toast. always a good start.
Anytime I'm coming back from a stomach illness I usually go with foods that I know are easy for me to handle.
Rice or pasta is a favorite of mine.
Focus on getting better, then worry about getting your diet back on track.0 -
Take it back slow, if you have to stay on the liquids so be it. the BRAT diet as the previous poster.0

The cramping is probably from the food poisoning, and the headache may be too although it could be dehydration. I wouldn't even consider eating unless you actually feel hungry, or worry about calories. This isn't your diet, this is illness! Keep hydrated - sip water all the time. Remember you've lost a lot of fluid, and so you need to replace that, and also you'll be down your usual intake including all the water content in food. Then move to things like clear soups, weak black tea, etc.
Don't workout when you're ill.
When you reintroduce food, keep it bland - soups, pasta, rice, toast and see how you go. I'd stay away from spicy foods and dairy for a few days. It's only a necessary fast - I had to do this over about a week pre and post colonoscopy earlier in the year, and I've had to do same after food poisoning in the past too.
Miserable for you - hope you feel better soon!0 -
Thanks guys! I feel so weak I wouldn't even consider working out.
Drinking as much as I can. I got a couple bags of fluid via IV yesterday, so that should help with the hydration... although I'm still drinking as much as I can tolerate. I'm going to try some cream of wheat and see how that goes. Wish me luck! If that goes well, then maybe some toast or pasta for dinner.0
