41 here .... doing great with my food and exercise. But the past few days feeling cranky and unmotivated. I am still following my program but just feeling like "what"s it all for"..... anyone else ever feel that way?

  • Yes...I think there will always be a time someone will feel that way. I always look at it like this, the times I feel like that I tell my self weak=losing & strength=winning, this helps me get motivated and think positive, everything in life i think is a test so again when you are weak u need to gain the strength to pass the test and win! Good Luck!

    I think everyone feels this way at some point even if they don't want to publicly admit it. There are plenty of time when your mind is going to question what you are doing but you have to overcome that.

    You have to find the motivation from within. Quotes, videos, and other people's motives will only get you so far. You have to want to do it yourself.

    It may take time but remember this isn't a sprint.

    I've gotten worn down a few times and felt like slacking off so I figure out what drives me (food) and refocus on it (finding a new healthy recipe or tweaking an old favorite to be healthier). Gets me motivated again and out of a rut.

    Yes, I think we have all felt that way for any number of reasons. But if you are like me (a STRESS eater) you need to realize that the damage you can do in one day can erase all your hard work from several weeks---is it REALLY worth it? Find something that you know you can rely on to help you focus and become motivated (like another one said---it's different for everyone and only you know what will work for you). . . but you have to have your 'safety-net' (so-to-speak) in place during happy times, because you'll be in no mood to try and find a diversion/motivation when you are in the defeated state of mind!!!

    I feel that way from time to time, and I wonder who doesn't?! Rest assured, you're not alone. That is one of the things I love most about MFP! Such great support and encouragement. If you aren't getting that, I hope you will add me as a friend so that we can support one another! One question I have is if it's "you're time of the month"? PMS is such a contributor to those feelings! Once I know that, I can combat it much easier and work my way through those challenging days.
  • You are not the only one. Last night, I was having the same thoughts because my body didn't feel so great. It wasn't looking the way I want it to NOW NOW NOW! *if you could see me stamp my foot!* lol.

    So, I went to bed, got up at my usual 4:45 A.M. and worked out. I feel good. :)

    I think it's just something we all go through...don't let it beat you down into doing something you will regret. :smile:

    @ibshell:

    OMG! I didn't even think about that! My cycle has been off since I started working out so much. That could absolutely be it.... THANK YOU! I feel less crazy lol. That is why it helps to reach out to others...

    @ 3littleMonkey:

    I do lots of foot stomping lol!

    Thank you all so much... I really appreciate the insight and the encouragement. Isolating and thinking I can do everything on my own is what got me overweight and you just proved that reaching out and asking for encouragement and guidance is going to get me fit! Going for a run now.... I feel inspired!

    ABSOULUTELY!! Who doesn't feel that way from time to time, especially when you've been doing it for awhile. If you haven't in awhile, switch up your workout and find some new fun healthy foods. We all get discouraged from time to time, or tired of what we are doing. But you are doing this for YOU and you ARE WORTH IT!!! I hope you will add me as a friend and join my support group! A little encouragement can make a WORLD of difference ;)
