The Weakness in People

Why are people so weak? Why can we not accept criticism in this country, and use it for motivation? why must we be nice, and easy-going? If every kid in America was allowed to eat ice cream because green beans makes them depressed, then we would all be unhealthy. Why is working out any different? I try to give honest support, but apparently, that is ba--a-a-a-a-a-aad. Guess I am the black sheep. Even had someone report me for tellin a girl the truth when noone else recognized it. Was not being insulting, just truthful. But apparently people are so delicate that they would rather hear only good things, and cant take the truth.
I may be mistaken, but dont people come on here to lose the fat, and because they are not happy with where they are at right now?

Tell it to all those parents celebrating the mediocrity in their children!
Go BRAD GO! YOU'RE THE LAST ONE TO CROSS THE FINISHING LINE BUT YOUR ARE STILL A CHAMPION! Now give him a trophy!0 -
People need to hear it from someone else because they are in denial most of the time or downplay how serious their weight issues are.0

Sugar coating will get you nowhere. *kitten* kissing will get you nowhere. Not in MY book. I got weight to lose and I know it! Otherwise, what was the point in me making my ticker and having it public for all the ppl of forums to see? My diary is open to all my "friends" I look for open advice so that I can learn and incorporate what I learn to HELP me, not hinder me. I don't need someone to say you are perfect the way you are...cuz uhmm HHEELLLOOO, I'm on a weight loss site trying to drop at least 100lbs! On the inside, I'm great, wonderful, beautiful..but guess what? No one is going to notice that if they can't get past what they see on the outside. Do I care? OF COURSE or I wouldn't be trying to change my lifestyle. It's mockery at it's finest when you come on a forum in here and tell a woman OR man hey are beautiful how they are and if someone doesn't accept them screw them. DON'T. That's not motivation. I want motivation dammit!! :drinker:0

I do agree with you to a degree but I find that it's better to just not say anything at all in these situations...it's too frustrating (for you) Either they will have the motivation or they won't - it's something they have to do themselves. I have a few family members that I used to go back and forth with...I gave up finally because it was taking it's toll on me. When they need help or advice, then I will help them. When you encourage (positively or negatively) them it may help them get going but only they will be able to make it in the long term.
When someone looks to me for support I don't tell them whether or not they need to lose weight, how much, or how long. I just tell them how and leave the rest up to them.
edit: with that in mind, I do encourage people AFTER they start making progress by simply letting them know a job well done. show me that you really mean it, and I'll support you.0
