I run and walk. I use the Jeff Galloway Program and I am really enjoying it. I currently run 2 min and walk 1 min. I do this on hills 3x per week. I am up to 3.5-5 miles per run. I was a "hard core" runner for many years when I was younger but took a long break or I would start to run then stop because it was too hard. I find Jeff's program so enjoyable that I have kept it up this time for 5 months+ without being injured or bored.

I want to be a runner but don't do it enough - I always end up with a killer headache after no matter how much water I drink xxx

Try drinking chocolate milk immediately after your run and/or eat cheese or some other kind of protein. This might help ward off a headache. And of course, keep up on water.

I consider myself to be a runner. I go through phases, though.

Right now I'm training for my second marathon - my strategy to get back into the swing of things with running.

I'm also doing half marathons in every state. As of last Sunday I've crossed off 41 states. If all goes as planned, I'll cross the finish line of my 50th state on July 4, 2013. However, life has its way of throwing in a few hiccups, so it may take me longer. But it's all good.

Just looked at your profile ... you are right, the only thing holding you back from plastering a 26.2 decal on your vehicle is you. Of course you can do it. You just have to make up your mind if you want it badly enough.

My NJ half is this month! Looking forward to Wildwood. Irene put if off a year.

Started jogging, am working towards a 10k and then a half marathon. Have done a few 5ks. I love it and get more and more motivated daily!

I run, but I wouldn't call myself a runner. :) I'm more of a slo-mo kind of jogger... But, regardless of pace, a mile is a mile!

Ran my first half marathon in May, and gearing up for my second at the end of September.
  • I run and I am currently training for my first half marathon! Just started running two years ago, at age 36, never had the urge to run until one day I thought why not! I set mini goals for myself, a 5k, 10k or now a half marathon!

    Good luck.
  • I could run a half marathon before I got hip bursitis a year ago
Now I run about 6 miles 2-3x week and do interval or HIIT on other days
I consider myself a runner but I'm not in any organizations, I just do it :)

I guess I'm not considered a runner! I never liked or enjoyed running until recently! My fiance & I are training to do a marathon on our honeymoon, in January. We completed our first 10K race this past weekend, and in spite the heat & humidity, we still finished it faster than we projected we would!

Not quite a distance runner, but the miles are getting easier with each week!

Yes, you ARE a runner! You run (and race!), therefore you ARE a runner :)

signed up for what will be my 15th marathon this fall, but you dont have to do races to be a runner.
  • I am just getting started running. I'm starting with the C25K app. A couple years ago I was running 6 miles every day in about an hour. Now I can barely jog for 2 minutes. What happened to me?

    It happens.

I remember having soccer practice for an hour and a half, then going home and running for 2 hours. I was running just over a 12 min mile too. Now, not so much but I'm working on it.

    Just keep on running.

I'm just getting back into it after being sidelined for a year or so. July was my first month of over 100 miles and I'm looking forward to improving on that in August.

I like to run at sunset or later and now have a nifty headlamp so I don't trip on the trails (Colorado)...can't wait to get back to my routine when I get home from Afghanistan.
