How to log working?

I work as a cashier, and wonder if there is any way of logging it. It's not like I get a cardo workout or anything, since I don't get my heart rate up. However, it's not like I'm sitting in a chair doing nothing for 6-9 hours either.
I help customers on the cash machine and then sweep and dust around the area when there is no one in line. I don't feel like it's really a workout, but at the end of a 6 or 9 hour shift, my body does feel warn out and tiered. Should I log it as light cleaning? Or should it just not count?

Thanks =)

    Under your goals, you can change your activity level to lightly active (I might have the vocabulary wrong but you get the idea).

    Alternatively, if you don't work every day, figure out the difference between a sedentary day and a lightly active day, and add that as a custom workout to the days you work. (I think the "create a workout" button only pops up when you search for something in the exercise database.)

    You might look into changing your activity level. If you set it to sedentary .... then bump it up to lightly active. This gives you a few more calories everyday.

    I only log exercise as exercise .... unless the housecleaning is working up a sweat kind of thing.

    I agree with the others that every day working should be factored into your lifestyle calories rather than logged as exercise. If you're set to lightly active or active MFP is already giving you the extra calories you earn from work and you don't want to eat them twice!

    I wouldn't count it I don't think. If you were like a waitress running around all day it'd be one thing, but just standing still the difference will be negligible. I found the following tidbit just by googling it out of curiousity:

    "Quiet sitting burns fewer calories than standing still. If you sit for 30 minutes, you will burn 33 to 63 calories (for 110-lb. up to 216-lb. individuals). But standing for 30 minutes means burning 39 to 78 calories. So standing yields around 12 to 30 more calories per hour. For a full day of work (8 hours), standing might mean 96-240 more kcals used."
  • what they all said... if it's not something extra you are doing, it doesnt count as exercise.

    Your goals are based on how many calories your body needs just to stay alive if you were in a coma + your daily activities (work, shower, get out of bed...) and mfp sets a deficit based on your weightloss/maintence goals. Work is not considered exercise. Under your settings if you go to change diet/fitness profile you can choose an activity level that suits your job and your lifestyle on an average day. Hope this helps!

    Ok, thanks everyone =) I already had it as lightly active because I'm not very sedimentary, so I'll just leave it alone haha xD

    I appreciate your input.
