Which is healthier option Pitta bread or the normal bread?

Does anyone know which one is better?
Pitta bread or the usual bread .. considering both are wholemeal and low calorie options
the Pitta that I use is wholemeal and 98 calories worth a pocket
the bread that I use is wholemeal and 96 calories a slice.
Anyone?

  • Personally I prefer pittas. They don't bloat me in the way risen bread does

It depends on what the individual ingredients are (and what exactly you mean by 'healthier"/"better"), but when I make pitta bread, I use pretty much the same dough as for normal bread, so they will probably have roughly the same nutritional content.

Pitta bread is risen. At least it is the way I make it, not sure about how it's made commercially.

The nutrition contents are almost same for both but I am not sure which one has better ingredients or good for health or which one should be the better choice for people who are trying to lose weight?

Really isn't going to make any difference which one you chose, just eat whichever you prefer.

Risen is wrong then, fluffy? spongy? lol
  • I'd say your normal bread looks to have better ingredients actually

thanks thats what I was thinking when I compared the ingredients .. Pitta seems to have many more preservatives n emulsifiers etc etc
  • Yes. Even better is if you can make your own. But i don't have time, or a breadmaker, and I'd probably eat too much!

Or get a good loaf from a farmer's market or wholefood store and slice and freeze it?
