I have been told that I need at least 180 grams of protein a day...myfitnesspal set my goal at 56 grams a day. Is that correct?

It depends on what your goals are. If you are wanting to build muscle and are actively weight training then you definitely want more protein. Some say that one gram of protein per pound of body weight is a good guide. Also your myfitnesspal goal is probably set to a lower percentage of protein. I heard 40% 30% 30% carbs, protein, fat was good guide for a generally healthy person without any health issues that would conflict otherwise. Hope that helps!0

how did they reach 180 grams? That's really high. Depending on how active you are your goal should be between 15% and 30% for most people. Some prefer more but usually that means they are following a specific protocol. IMHO 15% is a little low if you do ANY exercise at all.0
