I like this NSV

I have been a size 22 for probably 7-8 years. Since I started this journey a little over a month ago, I have lost almost 19 pounds. I did notice that my 22s were getting a little big but they aren't falling off me by any means. Hubby is taking our family on a short vacation next weekend and he was telling me about a rather high end place he wants to take me for dinner. Just out of curiosity, I decided to try on one of my old size 20 dresses (you need to be dressed well in a high end place, right?) thinking it would be a little tight....but I haven't bought a single nice dress since I grew out of them, so they were my only option. I put one on, and it was BIG...Hubby said I needed a belt! I tried on another thinking it must just be a designer that runs big and the other one hung on me and looked awful because it was so big. Um, I was not prepared for that! I might not quite be to an 18 yet, but I have a feeling I could squeeze myself into one....too bad I haven't been a size 18 since I graduated high school....in 1992.

Congratulations! When I began my journey it was over 20 pounds lost before I started to notice...then all of a sudden I was dropping sizes like crazy! (Started in an 18, currently in an 8). Keep up the good work!

    Awesome job!!

When I first started, I had a TON of water weight.....I just felt so bloated! So, I'm sure a good deal of my first pounds were from excess fluid. Usually when I change how I eat (or start some fad diet) I lose a lot those first weeks. I have also been working hard! I swim between 30-45 minutes at least every other day and do the elliptical 30 minutes or so on my non-swim days. I also do silly things to get a few more steps in - park farther away from the store than usual, make more trips up and down our stairs, walk the dog myself (even though that is normally Hubby's job). I haven't eaten as "clean" as some people on here. I find, at least for me, if I stop eating everything that I love, I am more apt to just give up. I don't eat crap all day, but if I want a piece of pizza for breakfast, I have it. I have small 100 calorie cups of ice cream in my freezer for when I NEED it. I record EVERY BITE that I eat. I find that I am more aware that way. I don't just absent mindedly pop anything in my mouth any more. If I want a bite of something, fine...but it gets logged. I have gotten to the point that I decide that some things aren't worth it. For example, a Little Debbie snack cake is anywhere between 250-350 calories. I'm sorry, but it IS NOT WORTH it to me for a snack....that's 30 minutes of swimming down the tubes. :)

edited to add....I also make sure that I drink my 8 glasses of water a day, if not more. If I don't drink water, and drink too much Diet Dr Pepper, I get that bloated feeling again!

My husband about 4 weeks ago - asked me (as I was about to leave for work) if I wanted to go shopping that weekend. When I asked him why - he said that my clothes were too baggy. And admitted after I bought a couple of things - that the outfit I wore that day was so baggy and unflattering! Well we also went thru all my clothes and three bags of the BIGGER sizes (24,22,and 20's - 3x,2x and some 1x) went to a charitable group I like. I am now into 18's and small 1x or x blouses. I tried on a new outfit and was amazed at how good I looked. This was after losing 50 pounds!!! So darn proud of myself!

Congrats!!! That is so cool! I can't wait to get to the point that I can get rid of my stuff. I have worn the same clothes for years because I didn't want to buy any more big stuff. I just had to kick myself in the butt to get started.

That is awesome! It also goes to show that the number on the scale is only a little victory and shouldn't be relied on.

Congrats and enjoy those smaller sizes!
