So, a tablespoon of "real lemon" in a glass of water every morning. What can it hurt?

This is the latest in medicine, effective for cancer! Read carefully & you be the judge.
Lemon (Citrus) is a miraculous product to kill cancer cells. It is 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy. Why do we not know about that? Because there are laboratories interested in making a synthetic version that will bring them huge profits. You can now help a friend in need by letting him/her know that lemon juice is beneficial in preventing the disease. Its taste is pleasant and it does not produce the horrific effects of chemotherapy. How many people will die while this closely guarded secret is kept, so as not to jeopardize the beneficial multimillionaires large corporations?
As you know, the lemon tree is known for its varieties of lemons and limes.
You can eat the fruit in different ways: you can eat the pulp, juice press, prepare drinks, sorbets, pastries, etc... It is credited with many virtues, but the most interesting is the effect it produces on cysts and tumors. This plant is a proven remedy against cancers of all types. Some say it is very useful in all variants of cancer. It is considered also as an anti microbial spectrum against bacterial infections and fungi, effective against internal parasites and worms, it regulates blood pressure which is too high and an antidepressant, combats stress and nervous disorders.
The source of this information is fascinating: it comes from one of the largest drug manufacturers in the world, says that after more than 20 laboratory tests since 1970, the extracts revealed that: It destroys the malignant cells in 12 cancers, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas..The compounds of this tree showed 10,000 times better than the product Adriamycin, a drug normally used chemotherapeutic in the world, slowing the growth of cancer cells. And what is even more astonishing: this type of therapy with lemon extract only destroys malignant cancer cells and it does not affect healthy cells.

Please check your sources before posting something like this. As someone who has lost someone close to them from cancer I actually find this offensive.
Here are a few of many quotes I found in relation to this so called miracle!
"this message significantly exaggerates the potential of lemon as a cancer remedy, contains false and misleading information, and does not originate from a credible medical or scientific entity. The message did not originate from the Institute of Health Sciences as claimed. "
and
"Analysis: While it's true that recent scientific studies have shown that lemons and other citrus fruits contain compounds which may have anti-carcinogenic properties, I've found nothing in the existing literature to support the wildly exaggerated claims above — for example, the claim that lemon is "10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy," or the claim that it is "a proven remedy against cancers of all types."
Nor have I found evidence to support the allegation that these claims originated from "one of the largest drug manufacturers in the world."
A representative of the Institute of Health Sciences told me the organization did not publish the text, was not the source of the claims, and indeed, as an allied health school, isn't in the business of providing medical information to the general public."
and
"Regardless of the source, the claims the e-mail makes are NOT correct. Lemons are not a “proven remedy against cancers of all types,” and no studies have ever been done that would compare the effectiveness of a lemon to chemotherapy.
A few studies indicate that lemons and other citrus fruits have naturally occurring substances that may have cancer fighting properties, namely modified citrus pectin and limonoids. These properties have not been tested in humans."0 -
Though the above was debunked, just wanted to add this note.this type of therapy with lemon extract only destroys malignant cancer cells and it does not affect healthy cells.
This is also a very inaccurate statement by itself. Lemon extract, lemon juice, citrIc acid etc are all very irritating ingredients to living skin cells/tissue. They are a low pH and acidic.
Don't believe me? get lemon juice on a paper cut.
Hurts - darn bad.
Thats because it IS an irritant.
Which means it can irritate living tissue, and cause an inflammation response in living tissue, which means it is "hurting" living cells. (inflammation is cause when tissue is irritated or damaged or harmed in some manner)
Info about Lemon Juice from www.naturaldatabase.com notes its a Potent skin sensitizer and irritant. Though it can have antibacterial properties, the irritation can hurt the skin’s immune response
I work with a number of company's in the cosmetic / skin product industry. I deal with lab rats, chemists, manufacturers and experts in skincare, ingredient production, manufacturing, product production etc. Many "natural" ingredients can be harmful if used on the skin or ingested, if not used at correct dilutions, or with correct buffering. (same with many synthetics) But at correct levels, dose, dilution, they can be very beneficial.
The most irritating ingredients, in general, are often "natural" botanical and plants extracts. This is because plants have a number of defensive mechanisms, that help them to survive being eaten by herbivores and insects. Many of these same "defensive" ingredients are part of what can make them good potential products with medicinal value, but can also make them harmful, depending on use, application, dosage etc.
Just because something is "natural" does not make it "all good", better, best - just because it is synthetic, does not make it "all bad", evil. We have a number of excellent ingredients and drugs that are natural, and the same with synthetics. We also have many "bads" that are "natural" and also "bads, that are synthetic. The dose level dictates the poison factor. Not natural vs synthetic.
Many, many, many ingredients - both natural and synthetic have "potential" anti cancer fighting action. In fact many many many common household substances will KILL active cancer cells in a petrie dish - But that is a completely different application, then trying to fight active cancer in a living human body.
That is a very long long long way from saying this or that will cure cancer, stop cancer, or help humans who may have active cancer.
Cancer is very insidious and horrible disease, with a number of issues that make it difficult to easily cure. And there are a number of different cancers, of many different types, that attack the body in different ways - no product, drug, ingredient can effectively "fix" ALL cancers. If you EVER see that - it your first tip, that the info is false.
Believe me, we all wish that was the case. One magical "something" to fix all cancers, in all people, forever. But it is not that simplistic. There are to many other factors involved.
Scientists in these fields spend their entire lives working on the cure for the cancers "they" work with, and even with specialized equipment, tools, and teams of people working on the process - it is still very slow going.0 -
my apologies for sure. a friend sent it to me and i found it interesting and was just sharing. will be more 'careful' in future to watch postings. if i could delete it, i would.0

I dont see anything wrong with this post. A little far fetched?? Maybe. BUT Lemons are good for you and natural is usually better.
I give you props for posting this. I'd rather eat something natural from the earth than all the fake ingredients in "so called food" that people eat these days.
I personally would not choose chemo. I have had very close friends and family members die from cancer, who hasn't? There are studies showing that chemo kills more people than the cancer itself. To each his own.0 -
Even what it says on this page is pretty positive though. Definitely worth eating more citrus just on the off chance!0 -

Sorry to hear you've lost people you love to cancer, I think cancer is something that has touched most lives at some point or another, and I understand if you find the message contained in the article offensive or upsetting, but perhaps a bit harsh to the OP here. She simply posted as a topic of interest and I personally can't see how that action in itself is in any way offensive.0 -

I said that I found the article offensive and asked the OP to do some diligence before posting - a quick search via google would have made it apparent it was a hoax. I am not sure what is harsh about that.0 -

As I have noted in my above response, it was the article I was offended by, not you personally. Apologies if that was not clear. :flowerforyou:0
