Hi all. I just came to mfp from weight watchers. I am looking for others who have done the same & I am wondering how the transition went for you?
I'm finding some higher point foods are actually relatively low calorie and that I am even having trouble eating enough to reach my recommended 1200 cal intake.
Just curious how the switch has gone for others ( : or if you have tips/advice!

I have been here for over a year after WW. I LOVE this site and have surpassed my ultimate goal with WW. The points system does not teach you nutrition. It doesn't teach you to watch all sorts of things like sugar, sodium, etc. It took me a little while to get it, but it finally makes sense! You will get the hang of it. Look at other people's food diaries for help too! Lots of good food ideas! Use the message boards, read alot of them, and make friends! There are a lot of encouraging, knowledgable people on here!0

I LOVED ww when i lived in buffalo, ny... when i moved to WV the people were mean and no fun so i just gave it up... the website wasn't enough for me. I like the way this site works, plus I work with a nutritionist at my gym. The 2 together seem to be a much better combo

So true...I've learned a lot about healthy eating and making better food choices. I don't even track points...I focus on calories and nutrition. The support system on this site is in my opinion so much better than that available on WW and it's FREE! It can be a little tricky at first, but easy to figure out with support from friends and information available within post. Good Luck!!!0 -
Joined ww in april and cancelled by june. Did Mfp simultaneously with it and have lost about 13 lbs in 4 months. It is all about tracking and watching what you eat. I just track on here for no cost now0

I have lost more weight on MFP then I ever did on WW, plus its free and more supportive.0

I found it to be exactly the same, only I prefer to log calories over the points system.0

I was a weight watcher before MFP. I had to give it up because I cannot pay for it. I've found that I prefer logging calories to points. I just miss 0PP fruits and veggies. Now I almost feel discouraged from eating them because a lot of fruits are pretty high in calories and don't seem to fill me like some other snacks! With weight watchers I also used to like to add them to my meals to help bulk it up some, but now I almost feel discouraged from doing that because I don't want to consume too many calories in one sitting.
I personally think the WW Community was better, but I also had been using WW for over a year until here recently when I cancelled. I still use the Online Community on WW because they allow you to use it if you cancel your account, so it's nice to have a support system from WW and MFP.

I loved weight watchers when I did it and was able to reach my goal. I was on maitanance when I got pregnant and had to take a break from it. When I went back, I lost most of the weight, but wasn't as successful, so I decided I needed to find something that didn't cost me anything, but could keep me motivated and excited about my journey. Since being here, I have been a lot more careful and healthy, found a great deal of support, and LOVE the community so much that I don't think I would go back to WW again. I am greatful for what I learned there and had a hard time adjusting to concentrating on calories instead of points, but just like you adjust to the point system, you learn the calorie system. Hang in there, we are so happy to have you aboard!!!0

I also am a recovering weight watcher. I have a private nutritionist in addition to using this site and am more comfortable with the process. One good thing that weight watchers taught me that is still helpful is to weigh and measure my foods.0 -
I was on weight watchers for a long time...I was successful at the time.......however after I started eating normal food agian I gained weight back........its not so much about your diet or what you choose to do............Its what you choose to do in the gym that makes the difference. You need to train the machine to get it to run like a machine0
