I've been logging food for about 2 weeks. My first week, I gained 2lbs. This past week I lost just over 1lb. I have 70lbs to lose, so I feel like it should be coming off faster and I don't have a clue why I gained. My calorie goal is 1400, per my doctor.
Things to note:
#1 - Last weekend I was sick Sat & Sun, so calories are low
#2 - I added some snacks into my categories, so my early logs are messed up as far as what I ate for meals and snacks.
I appreciate constructive feedback.
Thank you SO much!!!!

Did you start working out as well? if you are new to working out, you might retain water because of that.0

I did start working out but I didn't lose that weight right again, so that's why I don't think it was water. I thought I'd get some help here....maybe.0

Sorry, but what kind of diet are you on as we have to know that in order to reccommend how to tweak it. ie... I do Atkins/Low Carb so my suggestions would be based on my knowledge of this type of lifestyle.0

Hi there - I'm not on any kind of diet except restricted by 1400 calories.0

R u doing Atkins (I saw the bars logged in your foods? If so, I wouldn't combine ANY sugar (jelly belly) with ATkins products which are high fat. A common mistake people make is trying to combine diet plans to suit they're needs. You can combine high fat & high with sugar/carbs or you will gain weight. If you want to do Atkins, cut out all sugar except natural sugars from fruits/vegetables (& very minimal fruit at that) & add healthy fats like olive oil, walnuts, flax oil & cut out all breads. Sounds harsh, it was for me, I love bread & sugar but it is the only diet/lifestyle that has worked & kept the pounds off for me!0

What type of diet do you want to do or did he suggest. Do you have diabetes/pre diabetes, any other health issues? I can only suggest the way I do things based on a low carb plan. I tried doing calories but it didn't work & I was always starving. I tried weight watchers but gained weight due to all the fruit & carbs from them. This just works for me ;o)0

No, I'm not doing Atkins, I just like those granola bars. They have high protein and are filling and curb my chocolate cravings.
I don't have any health problems at all, so my doc didn't tell me to avoid carbs or sugar. The jelly beans were just a rare treat. I needed some calories and so decided to have something sweet for a change.
I just don't know why my weight loss is so slow. With so much to lose, you'd think it'd be coming off faster.
Thank you for your input!!!0 -
You should have a conversation with your doctor about exercise. If he recommends 1400 cal does he want you burning 400 cal off? You're net calories are very low everyday. I'm not sure what your situation is, but in my experience eating those exercise calories back is important.0

I'm no expert, so take it for what it's worth :-) I agree with the comment that combining Adkins products with Jelly Bellies probably isn't a good ideas, The weight loss you saw this week is probably due to the weekend days when your calories were so low because you were ill. You might try to keep the carbs under 100 since it appears you reach for sugar and carbs in the evening.0

It looks to me like you have to much sodium in your diet. I would suggest plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, your protein looks fairly high. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day. Get some kind of exercise in at least 5 days a week.
Good luck to you!!0 -
For your chocolate cravings try eating 1/2 of a Hershey's dark chocolate bar, it has plenty of antioxidants and not many calories.:happy:0

I would cut out some more of your carbs, and try much more vegetables and greens, like salad and such eat lots of salad I would eat a big salad everyday before supper and cut back on your snacks at night, drink lots of water as well, like glasses and glasses of it during the day, just water not juice or diet pop, water.0

Thanks for your input. I really don't like vegetables at all and when I eat salad, I like a LOT of dressing on it, which are two reasons I don't do many salads. I only at jelly beans ONCE and I honestly don't see what is wrong with eating them on the same day as an Atkins bar? I will talk to my doctor about lowering my carbs, but I tried eating low carb before and didn't lose any weight doing it. It seems like nothing I do is working these days.
I don't drink any juice or diet pop, I only drink water and iced tea. You didn't see any in my diary.
I wish I liked dark chocolate, but I don't. I don't get too many chocolate cravings, fortunately.
thanks again!0
