I have no idea about protein shakes and how they should be used. Do you use them to replace meals? Take them after exercise? NO CLUE I have 20-25 pounds to loose and i don't want to GAIN by drinking them. I do work out a lot, actually more than just moving types of excercise, i do 30 day shred, run, and spin .....etc.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I do an Atkins shake in the morning....I put GNC whey protein powder in it...2 scoops...I also shake some cinnimon in it......
I like the atkins because of the low carb and they are really filling.....I put the powder, shake and cinn. in a blender...you can sometimes put a half banana or other fruit depending on the shake..
I put frozen strawberries in the Atkins strawberry shake...wow....its great...and its the breakfast meal...
Im trying to stay low on carbs.....i lose more weight that way...I have in the past...and this is just my 4 th day on my new eating plan..I have one every morning..
good luck...look into GNC for some suggestions..they are really friendly and helpful...
also, if you want to do your own research, go to www.Netrition.com
great site and it has help outline on the left....you just put in what you want to do and it will give you pages of possibilities..
good luck...

I take Syntha 6 in the morning for breakfast. It's delish! You can you them for recovery too but you have to make sure they have a 4 to 1 carb protein ratio to get the best benefit. Your body needs the protein to create almost everything so it's kinda important. :happy:0

I have two protein shakes a day, I mix with just water, so its only the calories of the powder itself, which is 117 calories. One I have as my mid morning snack, and the other I have either after a shorter workout, or in the middle of a long workout ( like on Tuesday nights, I workout for 2.5 hours, weights for 40 mins, cardio for 50 mins, and pilates for 1 hour. I have the shake after the cardio.0

I use regular Muscle Milk as a meal replacement and Muscle Milk Light or GNC whey protein powder for post exercise snacks.0

If you aren't trying to build a ton of muscle it may not even be necessary to take protein. I do p90x and take protein, and by lunch I have hit tilt on the MFP protein scale for my 2100 calorie diet. If you are getting protein enough in your meals by eating dairy, eggs, and lean meats don't worry about it.
If you are bodybuilding on the other hand drink a protein shake as soon as you hit the floor in the morning. Then I usually split one and drink half pre-workout with a creatine/vasodilator , and the other half after with creatine. The idea is to make sure you never let your body run out of protein so it continually has the building blocks available for new muscle growth.0 -
from my understanding it can be a meal replacement for most people... because of the calories and because people dont really get in protein during the day... protein shakes are wonderful in the morning for a typical person cause well we are busy... so mixing a protein shake with ur fav fruit is a perfect breakfast...
i wouldnt more than that and get in the rest of ur protein with other foods...0 -
