Is this normal?

I've been doing MFP (seriously) since July 6th. I'm trying to drop some lbs before my wedding in October. The first 2 weeks, I ate about 100 calories over my goal every day, and these last 2 weeks, I've been very close to my goal. The 1st week I lost .4; the 2nd week I lost 1.2; the 3rd week I lost 3.2; and this week I've only lost .6! How did I lose 3.2 lbs one week, and only .6 this week?! urghh I've been sticking close to my calorie goal!

    Hi,

I have been in your shoes and sometimes, it just takes a bit for our body to catch up. It wants to hand on to the bad stuff, trust me. You will see an even bigger loss next week. Hang in there!

Weight loss is never linear. There will be times you have a bigger drop, a smaller drop, stay the same and even gain a little.

With the amount of weight you have left to lose, you should aim for a half pound a week... at very most one pound a week. The slower you lose weight, the more lean muscle you keep, which makes you LOOK like you lost more weight.

1-2 lbs per week is recommended. And average for people to lose per week. Cutting back more sometimes backfires and you end up stalling or gain if you eat too little. Everyone is different. It is normal for it to slow down as you get closer. Much of the 3.2 was probably water or hormonal fluctuations. Sometimes measuring yourself with a tape measure is a better way to track than the scale- it can mess with your head/self-esteem. Best wishes on the wedding!

Take photos, measurements and try on clothes to track your progress. It's WAY more satisfying than going by the scale.

How often do y'all weigh in? The only reason I've been able to stick with this (besides the wedding to motivate me) is because I'm weighing in weekly. I used to weigh in daily and get discouraged and give up. Should I do it every 2 weeks?
