For the past few days, I have been running a mile every morning, but I haven't improved much. My endurance hasn't gotten any better and neither has my mile time! Am I doing something wrong?

A mile isn't really far enough to make any difference to your endurance. How long have you been running? I didn't notice much of an improvement for the first 3 months, and I only really get fitter when I am increasing my distances - so after running 7 miles, 6 feels easy etc. If you are always running just one mile, you probably aren't getting much fitter.0

I can currently only jog about half a mile without stopping. But I can run a mile easily if I stop and walk a few times. How much would you recommend jogging?0

Have you tried the C25K program? I didn't do it, but I know a lot of people who have and it seems to do a good job. I was a bit silly and started out doing a 10k race 8 days after starting running, but most people told me I was insane. Have a look at the C25K, and see if you think it suits you.0

My first mile was a run walk, and then I continue to walk until I reached 3 miles. I eventually was running the entire 3 miles....and then more. Just run a little further each day until you can reach 3 miles, after that point increase a bit each week as you are comfortable, nothing too excessive. Make sure to stretch well before (dynamic stretching and static after) I can't stress this enough as I am 6 weeks into an injury that likely could have been less significant had I taken care of myself.0

I would suggest doing an interval workout. You should try c25k or make up your own. Intervals training at a higher intensity for short bouts of time will increase your endurance and speed. Just a thought0

The only time I could EVER run more than 1 mile was with my whole hockey team during practice. But...I did the c25k program, it works IF you stick to it0

It takes some time. Couch 2 5 K is a great program! Make sure you are getting enough fuel too. I like to eat a spoonful of peanut butter before my run.0

I'm also going to suggest C25K-it's an amazing program! It's helped me learn to pace myself and breath while running. You can download the app or check them out online0

A few days isn't enough to build endurance. It took 3-4 months before I started noticing an improvement. And I ditto the Couch to 5K programs. It really helped me, and now I can run 3 miles without stopping. :-)0

I started the NHS C25K podcast (on iTunes) in March and could just about run for 2 minutes as my weight was 102.5kg. I was running 5k about 11 weeks later within about 39 mins. I've just today run 5k in 29 mins and I'm really happy about it - thinking of doing a Bridge to 10k program now - weight now at 86kg.... There have been many factors in getting to this point but I would say C25K and MyFitnessPal have been the backbone of my program ...0
