Where to eat healthy in Long Beach, CA?

Going to be out there on business next week and was looking for some reasonably healthy restaurant recommendations, I'm not a fan of tomato and peppers so it kind of rules out the usual Mexican suggestions.

Hopefully CA is awake by now :)

I was just in Long Beach a few weeks ago for the CrossFit Games. We tried out a Lebanese restaurant called Open Sesame on 2nd street. I've never had Lebanese food but I actually really liked the food there. It's got a cool atmosphere too. There were quite a few non-chain places on 2nd street that seemed to serve healthier food.

If you're looking for an unhealthy treat at some point, there's a bakery called Sweet Jill's on 2nd street that sells decent-sized brownies with rawish cookie dough piled on top. I definitely don't regret buying one :)

Open Sesame is great. Haven't been there in a long time though. Not exactly "healthy" so some menu discretion is warranted.

There's a Veggie Grill in Long Beach (http://www.veggiegrill.com/visitus.html). Luv their All Hail Kale salad with blackened tempeh. It's like veggie candy for me ;-)
  • if your by shoreline parkers lighthouse has a few healthy options. plus a great beachfront location.
