Before everyone goes nuts, I am not bulimic. But I do get nauseous during my TOM, and I threw up my entire breakfast. My stomach feels better after some tea and I had a small snack and feel better. But I'm not sure what to log for today.

I would just log what you ate still. When someone vomits, you usually do not completely empty your stomach. I would just not that you were sick that day in the comment box.

    I agree with emmoen.

I just have to say, mrsmalcolm, you are stunning! I'm glad you're feeling better.....and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who gets (well got, since I'm in menopause now - lol) nauseous during that. I always ran a fever and had other flu-like symptoms too. I think it took my mom and me several months to figure out I didn't have the flu every month. :P

I would log it, as the previous poster said you don't completely empty your stomach in one episode.

Also, depending on how long it has been from when you ate till when you were sick, you're body could have already leeched nutrients and value from the meal...

Log it...and then note you were sick.

I still count it, but I don't get worried about going over my calorie limit, either. It's impossible to know just how much came out, so I'd rather not try to guess.

Well, I used to be bulemic and a doctor once told me that the reason bulimics usually are not super-thin like anorexics is because when you vomit, you only lose about 10% of what is in your belly and you start absorbing nutrients and stuff as soon as you swallow your food. So I agree with the other posters that you should just log as if you did not get sick. You probably are not losing all that much of what you put in.

Vomit in a medium sized bowl and put it on your food scale to weigh it. Don't use a small bowl it could get messy.

Thanks guys. This does happen to me ever so often, but not since I've been logging on MFP. So at least I know what to do diet wise

I thought that was Mrs. Huxtable from The Cosby Show in Mrs Malcolm's profile pic. Either way, definitely a lovely lady.

Just fyi that's false, you don't absorb anything until it gets to your small intestines. Except alcohol, which is absorbed in the stomach. I was a bulimic and I lost weight as I was struggling with my disorder. Not much though. Besides everything I was purging, I was eating quite regularly, just at a caloric deficit. Some bulimics throw up after everything they eat, some only a few times a week. Generally it doesn't lead to weight loss, but that's not why.

Sorry that's a little off topic but I just wanted to clarify. To the OP, I wouldn't worry too much about hitting your exact calorie goal today. Just estimate. I highly doubt whatever you eat for the rest of the day will have any major impact on your weight loss, even if you do end up over your goal.

    Hope you feel better.

I can back up what you're saying. I'm a microbiology major. Your stomach does not absorb anything other alcohol, and in some cases, I've heard of B-12. All it basically does is combine your food with HCl to create an optimum pH level prior to sending it to your small intestines, which the a major site of absorption. This is the reason why bulimics have so many problems. They are stopping a lot of their food from passing through the pyloric sphincter and into the duodenum by throwing it up.

Fun facts for the day :)

Have you tried drinking the tea before you eat to see if that helps?
