Are chia seeds okay during this diet?
How about pepper? I don't eat table salt at all so that wont be a problem
Thanks!

Will check that out when I get home from the store. Thanks missy girl you are a lifesaver!0 -
Girl I have done it ALL....haven't succeeded at all...but i've tried it all. I think that's why i'm here now...i'm so burned out from obeying all the rules and guidelines from this plan or the other. But like I said...I do think a lower carb/paleo type diet for me would be the healthiest...I just can't do it right now.0

i figured as long as you can find it in nature, it's paleo to me!
mark's daily apple is a great web site. there are also a lot of paleo food blogs out there if you want to google random recipes.0 -

I wouldn't call Paleo "low carb" unless you mean that in comparison to the crappy average American diet consisting of about 80% carbs... then yes, it is low carb...
edit: to answer your question (OP), from what I have found is that Chia seeds are high in alpha-linolenic acid (omega 3), but your body doesn't need it like it does EPA or DHA. Your body has to convert from ALA to the other forms and that can be difficult. I don't think you CANT eat them on Paleo, but I do believe they should be limited... (same with flax seeds)
But if anyone out there has a more definite answer please share because I would love to hear it.0 -

I wont be eating tons of them but I like to mix them in my eggs in the morning. Makes me feel more full.0 -

I would think that to be perfectly fine. But like I said, someone else may know 100% where as I am only about 90% confident in my answer... but confident enough that I consume flax from time to time.0 -

I don't know what they are, but if their edible in the wild without using fire, they should be okay for the paleo diet (unless they were somehow recently developed or something). Either way, if you really enjoy them, I'd say add them, just don't add too much-unless there's evidence to suggest that they're bad for you.
The truth is, we can't eat like the cavemen used to no matter how strict we are or how hard we try. The composition of food today just isn't the same as it was back then. So we do our best and judging by your success so far, you are already doing a good job.0 -
My success hasn't been from Paleo but I have decided to try and eat that way. I tend to HUGELY over do it on the processed foods and when I do that I NEVER eat veggies. Even the ones I like! So this is my way of training myself to eat healthier and boosting my weight loss. I'm sure the first few days will show a big weight loss drop just from cutting out the sodium in processed foods.0

I said LOWER CARB...which it most definitely is. the only carbs you get are from nuts seeds and a little fruit. that's much lower carb than the average american diet and much lower than just a calorie restricted diet including processed foods. Low carb doesn't just meen Atkins induction type levels.
**edited to add vegetables too yet the amount added is extremely little0
