Brisk walking

How would you define a "brisk walk" if you're just out and about walking around without a HRM?

Figure out how far you walked and how long you walked then you will be able to figure out how fast you were walking. :flowerforyou:

    I would define it as:

As quickly as you can maintain the same stride that you walk in, without breaking into a jog/run.

If you have a smart phone, look for the ap "MapMyWALK". It is free, at least it was on I-Tunes. It tracks how far you walk and tells you the calories burned and how fast you were walking. Maybe that will help?

Look for an app, I use Nike+.

When I power walk, I make sure it is a pace where I'm out of breath.

Haha! No, I don't own a smart phone or anything like it -- and that's mostly my reason for asking. I really hate all the "gadgets" and don't care to have them when I'm exercising.

Babymomakell: that's a good rule of thumb.

For me, it is anything between 3.5 and 4 miles per hour.

That's good. I should go by my being out of breath or at least a noticeably elevated HR.

I walk at a rate of 3 miles an hour...implementing some steep hills which require concentrating on breathing and no conversations with my walking partner .
