Hi, Nice to meet you all. I live in Sutton, Ontario and its nice to see all the Canadians here.
Love to hear from you on how you are exercising with all the cold weather we are having right now.

Hi Sue
I'm crazy about running, so most of my exercise I get by running outdoors 3-4 times a week. I also joined a group fitness class, which is a lot of fun. And when I do have days where I don't feel like going out, I have a little "Wii Fit" time. I've heard great things about the Shred DVD by Jillian Michaels, so I may get a used copy of that, too
I'm very happy to meet all of you!0 -

Hi Sue from Susan
I have an elliptical at home and a gym right next door to my office (only $30.00 per month for seniors) So luckily I don't have to go outside.

Hello,
I live in Sudbury, Ontario. It's seriously frigid here these days, so I mostly get into Gold's Gym Cardio Workout for Wii. It's good times I'm just starting out as well. Good luck!0 -
Hello from rural BC here! I am in a little tiny town called Lumby.. it's nice to have some support on here eh? lol Good luck!0

I'm from Toronto, though I'm in Puerto Rico until the spring. Decided to skip the winter this year
I try to swim around three times a week and have recently started doing yoga every day. I think this site is great, it's helped me stay on track a lot since I joined back in November.
Awesome to see so many Canadians around!0 -
Abbychick - wow, someone from my hometown. That's awesome! Good luck with working out, I hope it's not as cold "back home" as it is here in Kingston, Ontario.
Eliaheart - nice to chat with you again. I have the Jillian Michaels Shred DVD. It's as brutal as she is on TV. I stopped trying for now at least of doing the DVD. I need to work up my strength and stamina to do that DVD.
On January 2nd I officially started the "Flat Belly Diet" by Prevention Magazine. I'm on day 3 now. I started off with doing the "4 Day Anti-Bloat Jumpstart". I am being cautious when I say this, my belly does not look as bloated as it has been. I weighed myself this morning after that discovery. I have dropped 4 lbs since January 2nd. The anti-bloat diet seems to be working. It's amazing how what we ingest can actually bloat us up and instantly make us heavier. Shocking!
After the 4 day anti-bloat diet, I will be doing the actual Flat Belly Diet. Wish me luck. So far I'm not cheating. I'm not looking around for munchies, even though I have all kinds of things in the pantry. I actually am not even tempted. This is pretty amazing! There are chips in the cupboard and dip in the fridge and I'm not at all interested in them. That alone is very, very exciting.
Has anyone else on this thread done the Flat Belly Diet? I am really curious as to how it is/was going for you.
I look forward to talking with all my Canadians buddies again.
Have a healthy and happy day everyone!0 -
Oh, one more thing. If anyone is interested, The Biggest Loser debuts tonight. I love to root for the underdogs. I get excited for everyone when they drop the weight.
Have a nice day, eh! LOL!0 -
I'm from Oshawa, Ontario. I joined about a year ago. I've been off and on ... more off than on. It really is a great site. I've started back again in hopes that this is the year that I finally lose that extra weight I've been carrying. Good luck on your journey!0

I too am from Canada. I live in Toronto and after this lovely holiday season I am in need of losing 15 pounds. How do you find this site?

I have decided to do Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, plus get on our Bowflex and walk the dogs for my winter exercise. At the same time am looking for a used stationary bike that I can add to my routine, as I really enjoyed the benefits of cycling over the summer.
So all of this should keep me busy til Spring.0 -
Hi! Nice to see you all here. I'm from Wiarton, Ontario, and just joined this site a couple of days ago. So far it's good I think. Very user friendly.
Good luck to us!0 -
I'm from Fredericton, NB. I've been a member for almost a year and I swear by this site. It's helped me reach my goal weight and maintain it0

have a good day0 -
Good morning everyone!
It is so nice to read this thread from my fellow Canadian friends.
I enjoyed reading your posts on this thread. I have to say that a couple of your posts did make me go, "hmmm...."
suef - you mentioned the stationary bike in your post because you enjoyed cycling last summer.
jb_sweet_99 - you said "you like options", for your workouts.
It's interesting because I've been thinking about what I really want my workout routine to be. I want structure but I want variety too. So I've been mulling this over in my mind.
I have to admit that I wasn't even considering the bike at all (I do have one) because I get bored. But now I'm thinking about next summer. I have been wanting to get back into cycling but just have done it. This is great inspiration to challenge myself on distance and stamina. So thanks a lot suef for your post.
jb_sweet_99 - thank you for getting me to think again about variety in my routine. I think for my cardio I will switch it up between the cycling, the treadmill and of course going outside in the fresh air to do any kind of outdoor activity. I also have snowshoes, I should take advantage of that.
For the strength routine, I am thinking of trying Jillian Michaels "Shred" DVD again. That DVD is brutal but maybe if I just do what I can and gradually build up my strength.
I would really love to hear other peoples ideas on workouts and I would love to hear what you do for a workout.
Have a happy and healthy day everyone!0 -
I would really love to hear other peoples ideas on workouts and I would love to hear what you do for a workout.
I think the key to working out is variety otherwise you get bored and your body will hit a plateau. I have a gym membership at Goodlife and I take advantage of their group classes - my favorites being RPM (spinning), Pump and Attack. For those that don't have a gym membership i strongly suggest buying/renting exercise DVD's. Both of these options will keep you on your toes.0 -
Hi Debbie
Glad to hear you are going to use your bike.
I finally got a bike and my husband put it together for me tonight. Just finished my workout and my legs are burning and it feels great. Tomorrow I will do the 30 day shred, without the jumping as it hurts my foot. So the two activities plus walking the dogs and shovelling the driveway ( I offered to do it this winter for the calorie burn!) should help me lose weight and just have to keep up with my food diary and weighing my foods.0 -
Hello there, I live in Beamsville, ON and I joined this on and off for about a year now!!!! I finally quit smoking about 7 months ago and of course ate A LOT to compinsate for this, now its time to get healthy and back to my "Happy" weight!! Its so nice to see so many Canadians on here!!! Now I just have to get motivated and more energy to go back to the gym. I stopped and bought lots of healthy groceries and a Multi-Vitamin so now I have no excuses. Going to have to work on my lungs, I want to suprise my boyfriend and get my running back up so when the nice weather comes I can join him on his runs. 1 day at a time and no getting weak........My Motto!!!!0
