Hello all. I am 3 days into using this site. I love it. But you don't want to hear that. You want to know
"who are you" right? Right. So here goes.
I am a 43 year old mother of 3. I am a SAHM so getting out isn't that easy. I am a new garden grower. As I am
just growing my two favorite vegetables right now, Tomatoes and cucumbers. I do not walk much. I have low
lung function and have really bad arthritis in my lower spine. I usually have to use a motorized buggy in walmart/
kroger or where ever they are available. I am working on losing some weight so that I can start moving around
better. I am hoping to start at the local gym that has a swimming pool for year around use to start some low
impact water aerobics. But I can not until I can get some kind of reliable transport to and from there. Husband
works full time as a sales rep so he's gone at least 3-4 days a week. So we have no transport on those days
he's not home. Looking for someone to carpool to and from the gym but so far I haven't found anyone who
can do it on a daily basis. Hopefully soon. I'd walk but it's more than 3 miles from my home but I can't walk
that far. Soooo...I do what I can at home for now.
So...hello all. I hope to find friends and support here. it would help me because I don't have many people
who relate to my issues.

Welcome! I can totally see myself in your description of yourself! I was a SAHM for 13 years until the plant that my husband worked at for 23 years closed! I now work but it is a 12 hour night shift so doing things and going anywhere during the day was and is very, VERY difficult for me. I didn't walk much either do to my knees instead of my back but I am now doing just that for exercise! I started small (around the block) and kept building on that. I can now walk for about an hour! Depending on the ages of your children, take them with you for a walk around the block or just take one at a time for a little mommy and me time with them. They will love that! I also found that if I had some one who was waiting to go on a walk with me, I was much more likely to do it...I am fantastic at procrastinating!!!! I joined in March of this year and it has been a slow start for me BUT I am still doing it, learning new eating habits and starting to just plain move more so I look at all of that as progress!0

You can add me. I give you props for looking for friends right away. I made the mistake of not friending anyone for too long and was not successful. It helps so much to have support from all the wonderful people on this site. We are all in this together!0

I used to get wrong from my bar staff for doing a Gibbs slap to them when they made silly mistakes, but they got used to it. I have been doing that to people since college so I was doing it before Gibbs. :laugh:0

Jamie, SAHM = Stay At Home Mom.0

I don't worry about the kids, they would or wouldn't walk with me no matter what.
It's not that I don't want to walk it's that I can't. Literally. I will walk through a Dollar
General store just up the road and my back feels like it will break. It's the weight
up front pulling at my spine. I know that but it's really hard to walk. I also will have
asthma attacks just that quickly when I walk for too long. I fear those because I
almost died from one almost 3 years ago and I just gave up the walking too far.0 -

I will threaten my kids with a Gibb slap if they don't behave. They know I won't
do it but since they also watch NCIS with me they know what it looks like to get
Gibb slapped..so yeah..no biggie to me...0 -
