Kashi Bars, are they good for you?

I have come to realize that I cannot eat Fiber One bars any more due to their sweetness triggering cravings for further sweets. Fortunately right there in the same area of the store is the Kashi line of products. I bought a box and like them. They aren't too sweet and one will fill that 10 o'clock craving spot between breakfast and lunch.
Now I admit that I am not a great label reader but it looks like there are healthy ingredients in the bars. Am I missing something? If so please let me know why I shouldn't eat them.

Some of them have enough protein to make you feel full. Some of them don't. Look for the ones with enough protein. Also they have a lot of sugar. If you want to stay within your limits for sugar, look for bars that use sugar alcohol instead of sugar.0

Not really. Most of them are pretty bad.

I love Kashi products because they make them with whole, real food ingredients and they taste great. The Kashi bars for the most part have 3 or more grams of fiber apiece, 120 calories or so, and 9 grams of sugar or fewer. That being said, they are not weight loss foods the way raw veggies and lentils are. But I think eating one of these every day or so is fine. They are not empty calories; you get fiber, complex carbs, and a bit of iron. I don't see what would be wrong with incorporating them into a healthy diet.0

My bar, the Peanut Peanut Butter bar has a grade of C+.
I realize now that I won't be able to eat those once I get close to my target weight but I think (considering the way I *used* to eat) they're healthy for me for a good while longer.
I'm making small changes.0 -
Most packaged granola bars aren't that great nutritionally. Maybe try something like Larabars if you like the convenience?0

Try Larabars. The ingredient list looks like this: dates, figs, cherries. The end. There's a great variety to try. I love the kind with chocolate and peanut butter, of course. There's also lemon bar, cherry pie, pecan pie... and so on. I've also moved on to making them at home. I've made peanut butter and chocolate almond cherry bars at home. If you have a food processor, google "homemade larabar". You can find them at any grocery store.0

********Be careful with sugar alcohol. It can make some people, especially ones that have had their gall bladders out very ill.Do some research before ingesting this!*********0 -
I've been eating two Kashi bars (two different flavors) every day for breakfast for years. One right away and then another a few hours later.
I will have to check out that link on how they rate. They have 7 grams of protein each and do keep my full until lunch.0 -
Sugar Alcohols
Sugar alcohols , or polyols, are derived from the natural fibers in fruits and vegetables. They do contain carbohydrates, so they are considered nutritive sweeteners. Though sugar alcohols are relatively low in calories and blood-sugar friendly, they can cause indigestion, bloating, diarrhea, and headaches. See how you respond to a small amount before incorporating them into your daily diet. Examples of sugar alcohols include sorbitol, mannitol, and xylitol... www.everydayhealth.com0 -
I'm obsessed with Nature's Path bars, especially the Chococonut flavor. They taste like real food...oats, coconut, chocolate. I'd say they aren't exactly less sweet than Kashi, but they are more complexly flavored.0

I tried the Fiber One bars and they gave me so much gas I was in agony. Felt bloated to. Don't eat them anymore. I eat Nature Valley Sweet and Salty Nut bar, Dark Chocolate, peanut & almond. Cal. 170,Sodium 135mg,Sugars 13g, protein 2g. Not a lot of protein but it keeps me satisfied between meals if I feel I need something to eat.0
