My name is Lisa. I'm 42 , married and I have 2 sons. My reality moment came last week right before I left for vacation. I joined the gym near my house and had an appointment with a trainer to discuss my eating habits, lifestyle, etc... I got on the scale and I already new what the number would be so that was no surprise. The shock came when he told me that my body was 46% fat! That knocked me on my butt. I spent the next week on vacation really processing this information.
I'm going to hire a trainer and get serious about my health. There is diabetes, cancer and heart decease in my family. I need to turn that 46% into 21%. Thanks for listening. This is a great tool and a wonderful support forum.
Have a great day!

hi there
you have to be in the right mind zone to persevere but you can do it. i've lost 10-12 pounds since going to the gym. i have a personal trainer twice a month as well and that really helps. my eldest son gets married the end of september and i'm determined to weigh 12 stone or less. only four pounds to go !!!!! GOOD LUCK:flowerforyou:0 -
Hi Lisa,
I was in a similar position to yourself. My lifestyle has been turned around, I am not going to lie its not easy at times, but it is worth it in the long term.
There have been major changes in my life, I was on asthma medication for 20+ years and now inhaler free for 6 months, still have a bit of back pain but not anywhere near as severe. The kids are all left home and my husband John and I decided enough is enough and started with small changes, I joined MFP and encouraged him to do the same. We still use it daily for recording food and exercise, there are good days and bad, but your sheer willpower will guide you through.
So I wish you a healthy and happy start to a new chapter in your life, good luck and enjoy :flowerforyou:0 -
Hi Karen!
Thanks for the motivation! I have been finding it hard to keep up with everything. But I'm really tired of the yo-yo weight gain/loss.
I just want to get healthy and feel good. But I'm not giving up.
Thanks again,
Lisa0 -
Thanks Deborah! Good luck to you also!0
