Peach skin, eat it or don't?

We were eating with the in-laws and they gave my son a slice of fresh peach but they wanted to take the skin off first. I told them we always eat it and they thought we were weird.
What do you do and why? What about other stuff like apples?
I understand peeling apples because they are often coated in wax but peaches are in season right now. We don't peel apples but I let my kids spit out the peel if they don't want it. Or they eat around the peel on a sliced apple.

I eat the skin! I eat the skin on almost everything actually... apples, sweet potatoes, cucumber. There's good fiber in the skin. Just be sure to scrub it first.0

Ditto! There's lots of good stuff in the skins!
On peaches, however, I know a lot of people who don't care for the "fuzzy" skins (my dad always says "I don't eat things with hair on them" so I could understand peeling if they don't like the fuzz.0 -
I eat the skin.
However, I once had a friend who ate the skin on kiwis. I thought this was weird, or at least unusual. What do you guys think about kiwi skin?0 -
I can't abide the fuzzy feel, otherwise I'd eat the skin. As for kiwis, I'd peel them, too! They make my throat itch so I don't eat them at all.0

I love peaches but I hate the texture of the skin because its fuzzy. I think people peel apples because kids can choke on them but otherwise most skins have a lot of good nutrients in them so Its good to eat...0

I've heard if you are worried about pesticides that peaches are a good fruit to splurge and buy organic, but it that is not a concern...go ahead and eat it. We do at my house.0

Personally, I don't like the fuzzy feeling of the peach skin. I pour some hot water over my peach first, scrub the fuzz off, and then eat it. I'm a big texture-eater, though. if any food has a funny texture, I probably won't eat it. Or, if I eat it, I have to really work at getting past the texture.0

I wipe peaches and kiwis with a wet paper towel to get some of the fuzz off, but usually eat the skins.0

I eat peach skin and kiwi skin. I used to think eating kiwi skin was weird, but I got used to it. I eat the skin of almost all fruits and vegetables. I've even had watermelon rind. It's actually quite good.0

I usually eat the peel on peaches (and apples, and potatoes, and nectarines - you get the idea). I don't really care for the fuzz too much either. If you rinse a peach under cool water then gently rub it with a clean kitchen towel (or paper towel if you prefer) a lot of the fuzzy stuff will come off. I usually do that. I have no problem with apple skin as long as it has been cleaned and wiped down (to remove as much wax as possible). Whenever possible I get my produce at the local farmer's market and they do not wax the apples. The only time I don't eat the skin on an apple is if it is really tough. I find this on red delicious apples mostly. In those cases I will stop after the first couple of bites and remove the rest of the skin.0

I eat peach and kiwi skin without a second thought, but have never even considered rinds of melons. Hmm . . .0 -
I live in peach orchard heaven here in upstate South Carolina. Because i see how much they are sprayed to ensure that the peaches that make it to market are "pretty" I peel them. I am not a clean eating /organic only person, however since i see it being sprayed.... I just feel better.
Ymmv. Now that i am thinking about them i may go get me some peaches!0 -
I love it all!0

Why would anyone not eat the skin????? Almost all the vitamins in fruit are in the skin.0
-
I eat nectarines.0

I eat the skin...I can't think of anyone I know who doesn't eat it...0

'Swhy I get peaches from a local place that doesn't spray :-D0 -
I eat the skin on most fruits - apples, pears, plums, nectarines, etc. I don't like the fuzzy feel in my mouth so I peal peaches...but that's just a personal preference.0

It gags me. I cut my peaches into chunks in a bowl then eat them one at a time and spit out the skin. o.0 lol I also scrub them under water fist. I can't get my husband OR father to wash fruit. Grrrrrrrrrr.0

I eat the skin on peaches if I wanted a non fuzzy peach fruit I would eat nectarines.0

Hmm, now I want to eat a kiwi with the peel on it. How interesting! The peach fuzz never bothered me but MIL did say something about the fuzz.
Even my picky kids don't notice the fuzz. Actually I pointed it out and we had a taste test with peaches and nectarines one day.
I do wash all produce well but now I might start a thread on that.0 -
I always eat the peach skins unless I'm putting them in a pie or something, and then skinless is preferable.0

I love peach skin! It's delicious but I hate the texture which is probably why a lot of people don't eat it. I knew someone who ate orange peels.0

 but the skin is the best part0

That's where the washing comes in. Washing a peach gets rid of that fuzzy texture, even after drying it.0 -
there are certain cultures that think eating the skin of most fruits is wrong. but usually the skin of any fruit holds the most nutrients so if it's edible, i'm eating it.0
-
I don't mind peach skin.
Kiwi skin eh? I don't think I can get around that one.0 -
I peel my peaches, I can't do the fuzz, even if they are washed. I usually eat nectarines instead but when the white flesh peaches are in season I have to buy a ton. LOVE THEM!!!0
