Suggestions for an exercise newbie

Anyone have a good suggestion (DVD or exercise program) to do at home? Something that maybe you found motivating when you started?
I'm in my 30's, normal weight range, but I don't exercise at all. I guess I am what people on MFP refer to as "skinnyfat".

What are your goals? Are you willing to join a gym? Buy equipment to use at home? If you really don;t want to be skinny fat look at this, but realize it takes equimpent http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/686963-large-collection-of-info-for-beginners0

Thank you for the link, I will check it out.
My goal is to improve my shape, not necessarily my weight. I don't really have much money to spend on equipment, but do have a treadmill and some dumbells (up to 12lbs).0 -
well i'm the type to tell you to get a power rack and a bench and a barbell and a bunch of weight plates. If you can't manage it you might want to look into bodyweight routines.0

you could check out dvd's at the library that way if they suck you are not out any money and it would offer variety0

Get Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred at Target or WalMart.0

DB swings, 10 seconds of swings, 10 seconds rest for 30 minutes. http://youtu.be/pcKsqMW62Ss
DB clean and press, either one hand at a time or together. http://youtu.be/YD5APlgpbBQ0 -
30 Day Shred is definitely on YouTube, and I'm sure there are others you can find for free0

I like the library and youtube idea, since you can watch a variety of videos for free and then decide what you like!
But with that said... it's summer! Go outside and play! That's the best exercise anyway.0 -
Yoga has done some wonders for me. Not much of a calorie burn, but it's great strength training without equipment. I have also heard of the book "You Are Your Own Gym", but have not had the chance to get it yet.
Here is the link if you want to check out the Yoga DVD I started out with:

Walking and running will give you great legs, for belly and back just lie on the carpet and curl the affected area. Wide push ups for chest. Skinny girls don't need biceps, plenty of guys to pick up your stuff:)0 -
She has some amazing workouts, most with no equipment -- http://www.youtube.com/user/ZuzkaLight0

Thanks for all of the responses. I decided on Power 90 (not X, the old one) because I have an old VHS copy.0

^This! Look for some inexepensive ways to start. Other (cheap/free) ideas:
Netflix (mail only) has tons of videos. I tried a new one evey week, figured out which ones I wanted to buy.
Hulu.com has a health & fitness channel ... lots of workouts there.
Youtube ..... I can't stand to do workouts this way (DVDs have more options, chapters, music only, etc) ...but this will give you an idea if it's worth it to buy.
I have dozens of DVDs to cycle thru so I don't get bored.
Basic Cardio: Leslie Sansone Walk at Home DVDs are good. You can bump these up when the time comes (handweights, plyo moves, bigger arms, etc). These are no-brainer (no choreography) DVDs. Use your own music if you want.
Kelly Coffey Meyer is great for strength (cardio too if you are coordinated ... I am not). 30 Minutes to Fitness is a whole series, bootcamp, kickboxing, step ....
collagevideo.com is a great resource. This site gives video clips, professional reviews, fitness level, equipment needed .... tons of information here0
