Tonight, I was at the mall. They have in front of GNC a weight/Body Fat % machine. You pay a $1, stand still on it and it gives you your height and weight. It also will tell you your B.M.I. Also, prints out your Body Fat % to which mine said 36%. Body Fat Mass(not sure what that is) was 68.7 lb. Says ideal weight is between 118.2 to 155.5. it also said I weigh 189.3.My bmi ws 30.0. So, I of course don't know if this is a true accurate reading or not, however, I was just doing it to get a general idea of what it might be. I also had a sandle on that had at least an inch sole on it. I am sure that is why it said that I was 5'6.1" tall.
I always thought I was 5'5" inches tall. Well it got me to thinking. I came home and went into the bathroom where there is tile. I figured it was the flattest surface instead of a carpet. I could be mistaken in how to do this but this is what I did. I put my heels(barefoot) up against the wall and stood as straight up as I could. Took a pencil and put it straight over my head(sitting on top my skull basically) and marked a spot on the wall. Then I took a tape measure and measured from the bottom to the mark. It said I was 5 feet 4 and 3/4 inches tall!
Did I do that right? As we get older I know we tend to shrink a little. I suppose that I am that height now. So does that mean I have to change on my profile from 5'5" to 5'4" inches? I want to be as accurate and as truthful as I can on my height and weight so I know where I stand as far as needing to lose weight. Also, I only way myself on fridays, and although I go more by inches lost than weight, I weight 187.2 yesterday(8-3-12). do I keep going by that or do I put the 189.3 lb the stupid machine dished out?
I do go ahead and change my profile to correct the height but not weight. According to the tools bar here on mfp, my bmi is 31.1 and an ideal goal is to be between 107.8 to 145.7 lbs. Okay, I just don't think i would look good at 107. so I am sticking with my goal of 135.

I don't think I would trust that machine... You did say you had shoes that made you like an inch taller! I think what you did at home (measuring your height yourself) was the way to go.
And about your weight.. You're body weight changes all throughout the day. The best way to get the most accurate weight is to weigh every morning when you wake up, before you eat anything. That's what I do! I weigh a couple pounds more in the evenings (everyone does), than in the mornings. I guess because of all the food I ate that day, and my muscles warming up all day!0
