Just wanted to say Hello

My name is Stacey and I am new here. I have heard nothing but good things posted on fitbit about this site so I thought I would give it a try. I think this site can help me with my weight loss. Last Monday I decided that I wanted to make a serious change in my life not to mention I am going to Vegas next month with a friend. I have Sleep Apnea and I do not want to be snoring while I am bunking with a good friend. If I lose 10 pounds it helps a lot. I lost it before and it helped a lot. Then I gave up on losing weight and gained it back. I don't want to do that again. So far this week I have lost six pounds. And I am happy about that. So I am hoping that with this site included in my daily routine I will succeed in my goals. I want to lose 50 pounds. Actually I will celebrate the day when I lose 15 more pounds. That will be a special day for me. This week I walked over 99,000 steps. I want to get to 100,000 steps a week. I am amazed by those of you who can do that. I usually get to 80K+. Can you tell me what you think are some of the best features of this site that help you? And what keeps you on track so you just dont give up when the situation becomes frustrating?

Thank you,

Welcome one of my frustrations is the lack of response for some thing search function is your friend. I enjoy searching and reading alot on the message boards you can find alot of useful information. Other than that I've never really had any responses from posts in the past maybe you will have luck.

    Hello! Welcome to MFP!

Add me as a friend and take part in my daily fitness discussions, tips, and commentary on MyFitnessPal!

MFP is a really great resource to keep you focused and connect you with a wealth of fitness resources and like minded folks.

    1. Log your foods every day - don't skip days, or parts of your day. log everything!
    2. Analyze each day - see where it went good and where it went bad - too much fat? maybe too many carbs? over the calorie limit? Identify and plan how to correct it for tomorrow.
    3. Reach out to the community with questions or advice needs.
    4. Build a network of friends here!
    5. Above all, do not believe everything you read here. There is a lot of great advice, but also some misleading and hype type advice. Part of getting fit is educating yourself in aspects of health and fitness. Make sure any questionable advice is looked at with a scientific eye and look for facts, evidence, and most importantly real world proof.
    6. You are more than a number. Sometimes the scale may not say what you hoped - thats fine. weight loss is not a straight line declination. Its a bumpy line that drops over time. Don't let single day numbers get your focus away from term based results.
    7. Vary your exercises. Your body forms memories and can slow down how it burns fat and builds muscles. Keep it confused! Hit it hard with cardio styles. Build lean muscle to burn even more fat.
    8. and above all - take your photo now! You will want to look back and have a starting BEFORE picture to proudly display along with your series of PRESENT or CURRENT photos during your transformation and continued lifestyle of fitness.

I welcome you, and anyone else out there to add me as a friend. I have made fitness and health my passion and love the idea of folks joining me in my new lifestyle of being fit, healthy, and most importantly - HAPPY!.

I'm here to support and motivate!!! I find my own success comes easier when I help and fuel other folks success.

and remember - most folks care more about the quality of fuel they put in their lawn mowers than the fuel they put in their bodies. Don't be one of those people. Whole foods. Natural foods. Intelligent choices.

    Fit for life,

Welcome Stacey! I'd have to say the best thing about this site isn't really a "feature" - it's the people! I've tried this a number of times only to give up....until I started participating in the community. Now it's working. Feel free to add me.

Im really looking forward to logging on this site. I really like message board and reading about everyones stories. So just a couple of questions that I have. How do you log your picture on to this site for profile and are any of you fitbit users as well? I would also love adding all of you as my friends as well. I feel you get more motivation from the friends that surround you. I cant wait to start up again tomorrow.

Turning 45 next month. Want to drop 20-30 pounds. 210lbs--heaviest I've been. Been using the site for 2 days--it seems to help.
