ATTN: Swimmers... Exercise question

Most of my exercise comes in the form of swimming. I have been logging it in 2 different ways, but I want to be sure they are right so I have an accurate calorie count. Part of the time I swim (slowly to moderately) from one end of the pool to the other. I list that under "laps: freestyle, light to moderate". The other part of the time I am just in one place, vertical, moving my arms and legs to stay afloat. I list that under "treading water, moderate effort". Is this accurate, or do I need to do it differently?

I use a HRM (polar rcx5) to track my calories burned while swimming. For 30 laps (750m) of swimming freestyle, I burned 216 calories in 24 mins.0

I'm having to do it with the numbers already loaded under the specific exercises. I just wonder if I am listing it under the right descriptions.0
