Medifast Alternative Diets?

I was on Medifast for over a year and lost around 60 lbs. It was very easy to follow but very expensive to maintain so i finally decided to completely go off of the plan about 4 months ago and have already gained 15 back lbs..Has anyone found a similar plan to medifast and actually had luck with it, I have heard many people have just substituted the shakes and bars with low carb alternatives and have done well, i would like to start a similar plan but have no idea where to start. I would love to hear if others have tried this and if so had any success. Thanks in advance for any input..

I just transitioned from Medifast to Weight Watchers and I have continued to lose.
I will say that I workout quite a bit (1-2 hours per day 5 days per week) BUT it can be done without dedicating that much time to the gym. If you stick to the Weight Watchers rules and regulations (and don't go crazy because you can FINALLY have fruits) you will start seeing results again
If you need any help, I've only been on WW for 3 weeks but I will do my best if you have any questions.0 -
thanks so much for the post. i am currently trying to do a medifast style diet with a variety of low carb protein shakes and bars mixed in with a few snacks with fruit and a low cal dinner..Much like the lean and green meal..much to my surprise i was able to drop nearly 2 lbs over the last week..SO something seems to be clicking with this combination of foods, and I'm not hungry at all..I am going to give this a solid month..and if the results aren't as i am needing i may check out the weight watchers point systems..i just remember doing ww years a go and really didn't lose more than a few lbs, i was always craving the high carb foods etc, i hear its much better now. They even have a lower carb plan..Good Luck with it as well!0

I've been seriously considering MediFast because of the results everyone seems to get. It's good to hear that people have been able to transition to weight watchers or other options after some success on the plan. What bars/shakes are you using instead of the MediFast options? That plan is just SO expensive!!!0

I have been using a combination of the Pure Protein shakes and bars you can buy these at walmart. I actually bought the EAS brands as well, and the carbs were so high, and the pure protein ones taste better, i usually add a splenda, a tsp of sugar free flavored syrup along with some frozen fruit or ice. in a blender, its really very good.. I also use soy almond milk which had about 1 carb per serving..and 60 calories, I usually have 2 shakes and 1 bar per day..Other than that i follow the old medifast guidelines, and do eat the lean and green meal once a day..which consists of about 6oz of lean meat 2 cups of salad..with a healthy oil as a topping. However Ive added in 1-2 fruit servings per day and have actually noticed the weight loss coming back and I'm never hungry! I did Medifast for over a year and at nearly 350.00 a month for the food it really isn't a diet you can follow long term. I figured with my shakes and bars I'm out about 3.00 a day which is a huge savings, and i dont have to wait for my foods to arrive via the mail, i can go to any local stores and purchase them as needed. I also add in a multivitamin due to the lower calories range and foods. Good luck with whatever you decide, i have also found that this online planner has been amazing in my weight loss..as i can log in my exercises etc. It really does keep you on tract and is very motivating.:)0

Here's an informative link to the medifast website that has additional downloads on the plan information you might find helpful:)

EAS has a carb control shake which is 110 cals and 4 g of carb. I like them. I'm also wondering if there's a link between no wheat and weight loss??? I've noticed that all medifast foods are gluten free. Soooo I found nature valley protein bars (18 g of carbs and 190 cals). THe cals are higher (obviously) but not horrible. I just started trying to do MF on my own again. (I still have about 15 or 20 of my MF foods left). Here's to hoping!0

There was a post, I didn't think it was a spammer, but it must have been. Maybe they spammed a different thread and got deleted. Meh.0 -

No, some old posts popped up spontaneously resurrected from the dead the other day. I accidentally did the same thing by responding to a different thread without noticing the date. Mine was dated 2006! Lol.0 -
