Anybody else watching the Curiosity landing?

I am probably going to be useless at work tomorrow, but I don't care. I am staying up and watching online! Should be landed in about half an hour!

No, I don't run Java on this machine. Will have to check that out on another machine later. :(

The "7 minutes of terror" seems so risky. It will be amazing if that goes without any problems. I can't imagine how much engineering and calculation goes into that entire process.

Hopefully the risk is well worth the reward, and the landing goes smoothly. It's so exciting to live in an age where we are going to do geology on another planet. (I really think this should/could have already happened, but I am glad that it is happening now!)

I did and it was brilliant!

Luckily I live in the UK so it was getting up time for me anyway.

When they had received confirmation of touchdown and the whole control room erupted in cheers, that was a truly emotional moment. I am now eagerly waiting for the EDL images from the MRO...

Here's to many years of exploration and discovery that Curiosity will bring to us!
