Exercise calories burned

Is it just me or is MFP a bit generous with the amount of calories burned for most activites?

I feel like i have to knock off a few hundred calories off most things i do just to get it in some sort of reasonable estimate.

Do you have any specific examples of something you thought did not look right?

It's just an estimate. Yes you should adjust it if you have a better estimate.

For me personally, I'd say yes for some activities, like Tae Kwon Do hugely out, 3 times what I burn! But for walking (all the recorded speeds) it's pretty spot on. Best way to know what your calorie burn is for a particular exercise/activity is to invest in a Heart Rate Monitor.

I have thought this for a while and did a check against my HR monitor for my ride to work, on MFP a 550 cal burn actual burn is 450 thats 100 cals less add that up over a week thats 500 cal extra that I thought I may have burned and could have eaten back. The tool on MFP is only an estimate so i would get yourself a HR monitor and get a true guide to what your doing.

I'm glad you've asked! Is saw the same thing, so I take the calories burned on my HRM. If I haven't use mine for that day, I substract a few calories, as MFP is a bit generous with calories burned. I want to ask though, if I was inder my calorie intake the previous day, can I "use " it the following day? I'm usually a bit under my calorie intake every day, so I've wondered if I can then eat a bit more the following day? Or is that just a silly wish!?

No thats perfectly fine! It's better to think of these things in terms of eating an average amount of calories per week, not every day. It's perfectly fine to eat little one day if you know you're going out for a meal the day after, for example :)
