I've been running and racing for ~7 years now, and I wanted to put this out there because it is an elusive thing. That being said...

Today
I had
A perfect
Run.

Yes. It happened.

I did my last half iron of the year ~ 3 weeks ago and switched straight into prepping for a hiking holiday, so I actually hadn't been out "just running" in forever. I had been a slave to my pace watch, to my miles, carrying a giant back pack, you name it - but I hadn't been "just running".

So today I gave in, took nothing with me.I had great weather. I wore enough bug spray. I ran as fast as I could, and it felt like I was flying. I took breaks. I climbed over benches, walked on logs, practiced my rock jumping and fecne hopping, I swung on railings, rain stairs, went off road, fell in the mud. I did cartwheels. I HAD FUN.

Sometimes I (we as runners) get so caught up in my own schedule that doing what I love to do is a chore. Sometimes running does suck. Dogs, cars, smog, rain, wind. Not today.

So keep it up. Your trail is out there.

Wishing us all more perfects runs.

I can't wait to have fun runs. Only being at 2 1/2 minutes of steady running is frustrating but it's 30 seconds longer than last thursday! lol

That sounds like so much fun! I've never been much of a runner, but really want to add it to my exercise routine. I'm starting the couch to 5k program this week, so that I can slowly work my way into it.

    Awesome,

Every once in a while we need to be reminded not to be so strict on ourselves with doing what we love.

That sounds fab! I hope I get there soon.

I finished C25K on Sunday, so as a treat I bought myself the Zombies, Run! app. My plan is to get off my 'training' route, which is a fairly predictable straight sidewalk run on the busiest thoroughfare in the neighborhood, and start taking the side streets instead. It'll help spice up things a little with a change in scenery and an added bonus of less folks in the way walking their dogs or kids riding their bikes on the sidewalk.

Brilliant. You've inspired me to leave my HRM and iPhone at home. (Well, who am I kidding, I can't go anywhere without my iPhone, but I won't turn on Nike+.)

Just me, my dog and a trail. Sounds like heaven, actually. Thank you for sharing.

Zombies are awesome. Check out www.runforyourlives.com. Hoping to get to the SoCal race in October.
