How long should you workout?

I've heard conflicting arguements on working out. Do you need to workout 45 min. everyday to lose weight or can you do 20 minutes but really push yourself?

Bump! I would like to know as well. I have a daughter almost 1yrs old and on some days its really hard to get in a good workout, even with shes napping I can't get in the full time I woul like.

Technically you don't need to work out at all to lose weight - diet alone will suffice. However, if you're also thinking of overall health and being fit, exercise is ideal. 20-30 minutes per day is recommended. If you can do more, great, more power to you - that'll help speed up your weight loss. If you can't do more, any bit of exercise and extra movement helps.

It would depend on what you're eating also. You can workout a good hour and go home and eat a whole pizza and will probably gain weight. You need to find a balance with your diet and working out. I would switch up the workouts so your body doesn't get use to it.

Thanks! That helps alot. And yes I will have to agree on you don't need to workout to lose the way as long as your eating well. Here the past 2weeks I've only been able to workout 3-4x a week with only 30-45mins long and I still lost little over a pound.
