Okay so I am doing Insanity right now and I did the math that the nutrition guide had told me to do to find out how many calories I am supposed to eat in a day while on the insanity program. I am supposed to eat about 1700 calories a day. That is a lot of calories for me, so I have been aiming for 1300. My issue is, when i plug in my workout into MFP it tells me to eat back my workout calories. I programmed my MFP manually for the calories Insanity told me to eat so does this mean I hould not be eating back my calories??
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense I hope someone understands me.

I don't follow the insanity workout nutrition guidelines. They want me to eat way too much for me personally. What are you trying to achieve. Whats your height/weight/age. Do you want to loose, tone, bulk?0 -
I am 5'5. Weigh 124. I am trying to loose a few pounds and tone.0

With your stats to maintain you need 1688 calories a day. To loose you need a 500 calorie deficit which brings you to around 1188. Then you want to eat your exercise calories back to keep you at the 500 deficit or you would have a very larger deficit. Some people choose to eat back their calories, some eat back half, and some don’t. Do what you feel is best for you and keep in mind since you only weigh 124 and If you don’t have a HRM, MFP might be overestimating your calories burned in a workout. If you are eating those calories back you won’t really have much of a deficit. If you want to be accurate, get a HRM and ware it. On the Plyo for insanity I only burned 290 calories today. My husband would have burned 500 plus! Which for my weight and body fat % is accurate. Me personally I do not eat back my exercise calories. This works for me and I am only 108 pounds and 5’1 so I am much shorter then you. If you choose to do that listen to your body and if you are hungry or too tired up your calories by 100. Then do it again if you are still too hungry or tired. Find what is best for you and your body. Play with your carbs if you are still to tired and eat a little more. I find that I need more carbs since I have low body fat. Everyone is different here and there is no wrong answer as long as you have a deficit and long as you find out what your body needs. No one can really tell you that but you.0

Anytime!!!! Good luck! How did you like the workout today? How long have you been doing it for? Are you on the plyo today for Tuesday or just starting your fit test?
Oh and a fitbit might help you too. I wear it all day except for my workouts when I use my HRM. That really helps me see what I am burning in a day. You might want to try one. Any will work I just like the fitbit because…. Well it comes in Pink. Logical right? I found that I was underestimating how much I was burning on a daily basis. Especially on certain days of the week like Tuesday at work when we get to dress down and wear tennis shoes. I would walk 10x more on this day because I am not in heels! Monday I walk less because I am usually tired and on Friday I am so excited on Friday and wearing tennis shoes so I am a crazy person burning on average 200 more calories on that day. Go Figure! Its nice to know kinda where you are at so you can eat more or less on any given day. It also is like getting a scale for your food. After a while I can look at a piece of chicken breast and already know roughly how many grams it is just because I have weighed chicken before. After wearing the fitbit for a month I am pretty close now to guestimating my calories burned for the day within about 50 which isn’t bad. I will use it even more when I am done dieting and just maintaining. Then I will really need to make sure I don’t go over since I won’t be exercising quite as much or as hard or as often.0 -
Today I did the ply cardio circuit and I loved it. How much was your HRM? Where did you get it?0

Oh cool! Me too! The hardest was the leg part when you were in plank at the very end. OH MY GOODNESS! My thighs were burning and actually gave out! Never had that happen before!
About my HRM…I did A LOT of researched and checked out reviews and youtube prior to purchase. I got the Polor ft4f for 60.00 with shipping. Best reviews and the cheapest.

Its actually pink not purple. This picture is wrong. This is what it really looks like.
That is the only issue I have seen was the color was wrong but I wanted the pink anyway! Great investment! I was doing p90x and I thought since it was fun that I didn’t realize I was working hard and it was easy for me but little to no results. I got my HRM on Friday and tried the Kenpo with it on. Wow I wasn’t even in my target heart rate almost the entire Kenpo workout and peaked at like 140. I had to stop his workout more then 1x to do jumping jacks or run up our stairs to get my HR up! I only burned like 290 calories. Man was I off and then I knew p90x wasn’t going to be tough enough on the cardio for me. I switched to Insanity yesterday. I wouldn’t have known if I didn’t have a monitor. I peaked at 173 vs. 140 with the kenpo. Much better. So glad I switched! LOVE having the HRM during my workouts too. It really helps motivate me. If you think it will motivate you then do it!0 -
Almost forgot... save that link I gave you. There are 3 other sales for the same watch and they are both 30.00-40.00 higher! That one is around 60 the others are showing at 99! OUTCH!0
