Need some low impact exercise suggestions

Hello everyone!
I woke up yesterday with extreme neck/shoulder pain. I went to the doctor and she said that I have some nasty muscle spasms and I'm not allowed to return to work until Friday of this week.
I am pretty sure that my new duties at work have caused this: I am doing more filing, alphabetizing, and I answer the switchboard so I am hunched over most of the day, so I have a feeling that this is not the last time that my neck is going to feel so badly, the last gal that did similar things to me had major neck problems to the point that she had to have surgery.
I'm going to try to find ways so I am not hunched over as much at work, but in the meantime I would like some suggestions on exercises I could do that won't strain my neck. I have an elliptical machine at home and just got done with 20 minutes of it, but I have to go fairly slow or my neck hurts.
I'm frustrated that I can't do much to get my heart rate up without straining my neck...any ideas? Walking is kind of out of the picture because it's freezing here and there's a lot of snow/ice on the sidewalks.
Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Hey, even if you have to walk in place thats better than nothing, or if you have stairs in your house you could do steps. Of course that could be dangerous if you cant look down. Ummm...you could do a modified version of yoga or pilates. They have great DVD's out there for beginners, and they all pretty much have a modified technique for people who have problems with their neck or back. you could even go online and find a workout video.0
