Lactose Intolerance

I have learned that I have a lactose intolerance. I have also found that I have an intolerance to tomato. I eat tomatoes still, because they're up on my favorite foods list, despite what it does to me. I don't eat too much cheese, never eat it by itself, but will sometimes have it with things in it. I've noticed that yogurt hasn't really caused any issues. Milk is a curse and avoid it at all costs.

But my question is, is anyone intolerant of any foods, particularly lactose, that still eat it?
I've heard that having an allergy to a food or intolerance can actually hinder your ability to lose weight if you're still eating those foods.
Does anyone have experience with this?

Insight is helpful.
Thanks ahead.

I'm not lactose intolerant but my best friend is. She carries lactaids with her so if she wants to enjoy some ice cream or such, she can. Otherwise she avoids it.

I keep lactaid available...just in case! Dairy does not bother me UNLESS I overdo it..ie....too much milk, cheese or yogurt.

I am lactose intolerant and certain foods are really bad and certain ones are not. I can not do milk at all even with lactaid pill, so I only use almond breeze(soy and lactose free). I can't do ice cream at all. But I can do yogurts, most cheeses, alfredo sauce is pretty bad on me but I can eat that and just pay a little for it. After doing some research and finding out that lactose is in SOOOOO many foods, I found the source of so many of my stomach issues. I thought it was just dairy food but nope.
  • Hi! Lactose Intolerance does not hnder the amount of weight you lose, BUT it feels like it because eating foods that contain lactose cause bloating. Also, just note, that many foods (that aren't obvious dairy) have lactose. Read labels of any processed food you buy. Good luck!

I'm ok with small amounts of dairy, like a slice of cheese, but for anything more I need Lactaid. Lactaid milk is actually really yummy, and they make lactaid cottage cheese too. For non-lactaid dairy products, I take the lactaid supplements. I can not give up dairy!

I have lactose intolerance as well and I avoid dairy as much as possible but if I'm going out to eat I also take a Lactaid pill. Now, there are so many foods that are lactose free, there are a ton of different milks that are lactose free, all of the Cabot cheeses are lactose free, now even yogurts are lactose free. But yes read labels because they will say that it contains milk. It is important to get Calcium in so if you're not eating any dairy you should take a supplement. Hope this helps! :)

I'm intolerant too. I use almond/soy milk in my coffee, and take lactaid when I have other dairy products. I do not drink milk at all, it makes my stomach hurt even with lactaid. I tried cutting dairy, but since I'm not much of a meat eater I found it difficult to get enough protein without cheese/yogurt.

I've noticed that I feel bloated all the time and just uncomfortable. I'm wondering if this could be a reason for some of the weight I have. I'm wondering if anyone that is lactose that still eats it has experienced a difference (besides feeling better) in their weight, etc by cutting it out completely. I heard that this may be true, that those with an intolerance, can put on weight because of it. But, I heard it on the Dr. Oz show so I'm not so won over.

That's what I've heard too... heard it's in things like canned tuna and packaged lunch meat :/
