I don't know about you guys... and not that Dinner and a movie can't be fun... but what are some more creative date ideas that you have either been on or would like to go on?

Some things I think would be fun...

1. Geo-Caching... I mean come on! you get to go on a treasure hunt! How could that not be a fun!... Plus it is a free date in case you don't mesh so well with the other person, or are on a budget.

2. Going on a 'letter art' photography hunt... not only do you get cool pictures out of it, but can make some awesome gifts out of it! I make home made signs from letter art pictures that I take for just about every wedding I go to... Again, not only a free date, but you can make some cheap and creative gifts out of the 'letters' you find.

3. Going exploring in nearby caves or something if you have that in your area... or build sandcastles on the beach or something.

I live in Washington DC, so there isn't much there in terms of local caves. But when I was sixteen years old, my buddy and I took our girlfriends to the East Falls Church metro station where, across the street, was a large, person-sized storm drain. Our girlfriends wrapped in our arms, begging us not to lead them in. But we were young and adventurous and, most of all, wanted to look tough.

We had only one flashlight and only made it about thirty feet underground before stepping around the first of three homeless men we saw that day. My right arm was almost numb the way my girlfriend clutched to it. We carried on until we could no longer see the entrance and finally reached the end of the tunnel. The concrete extended about halfway down from the top, with a grate to block the largest of trash from washing through. And, spraypainted on the back of the tunnel, was...

...and then we weren't scared anymore.

Anyway, many years have passed since that event. Now I just take debutantes and starlets to cultural events at embassies, or galas on Capitol Hill.

  • Geo-caching is a great idea for a date!

    [Boys, take notes ;)]

I like just about anything adventurous.
  • Going to a comic book convention! Or gaming convention!
  • Possibly, LARPing.

Where people will say sh%t like the "whispering eye".

Yeah....I don't think I would enjoy this date.

You don't have to. Now I, perhaps I would. Only if it involves being able to beat the *kitten* out of an alliance gnome with a foam sword and casting water walking on myself.
