Hey everyone, my name...or at least what everyone has 'dubbed' me as, is Ducky. I am 22 years old, and in need of a SERIOUS change. I have been 'chunky/fluffy/big/overweight' all of my life...but not NEARLY as bad as what hit me when I was about 15-16 years old. That's when it all began. My highest weight I had ever reached (that I know of) was 375-380...I say that I know of because, I'm sure as some of you know, I did NOT enjoy stepping on the scale.

The last time I weighed, the scale read 347...I haven't seen much of a difference, as many people don't when they start their tremendous weight loss journey. I'd really love to meet some people who are at least in somewhat of the same boat I am. Needing/wanting to lose over 100 pounds.

Some facts: I started MFP about a week ago...I've been doing pretty good it seems so far. There have been a couple of days that I went over my calorie intake...I got a bit discouraged, but it didn't stop me from starting all over again the next day :) I do have a gym membership, and had a personal consultation with a personal trainer. She gave me awesome tips on working out that I am more than willing to share with anyone that wants to know! I do enjoy drinking water, although, I don't drink it as much as I should. I am TRYING to get in the recommended 8 glasses a day...I get side tracked with diet pepsi/coke and "diabetic" sweet tea.

Yes, I do have type 2 diabetes, which is just another reason I am wanting to lose weight. I may not be able to REVERSE the diabetes, but I can get it under control. I definitely do not want to end up being insulin dependent, and I was on my way.

I'm trying not to make this TOO long...I tend to do that. So I will end it here. I am open and willing to any friend requests. I am here for support and encouragement, as long as you are willing to give some in return! No matter if you're wanting to lose 20 pounds or 200 pounds, we are all here for the same reason! And I have faith in myself and everyone who has joined MFP to reach your goal(s)!

    Good Morning,

I got teary eyed after reading your post. I have been in the same situation, the difference is I was slim my whole life and was put on steroids for Lupus as well as my bad eating habits contributed to my weight gain. I am trying to lose 45-50 lbs. I just wanted to say Hang in there!!! There will be some ups and downs, but if you stick to eating right and being active, it will happen
I started out at 207lbs, but that was when I logged on here and weighed myself, Im quite sure I was heavier, but at that time was too scared to hop on a scale. I stopped worrying about my size and stuck to reaching my goals. My new motto is worrying stresses you out and stress makes you gain weight, RELAX & STAY CALM - Ive got this weightloss thing wrapped around my lil fingers :flowerforyou:
  • Morning. I am so impressed with the courage that you are showing. Four years ago I lost forty pounds and was so proud of myself but several health issues got me off track. I realized recently that I cannot dwell on the past - that I needed to make a fresh start and set new goals. I have those same forty pounds to lose and again and then a few. We are all in this together and need to praise each other for what ever gains we make no matter how small.

Ducky, I would be glad to help with some motivation, if you return the favor. I am a diabetic too, but take one shot of insulin a day. I have lost some weight down from 246 at my highest (I think, same I won't get on the scale deal) now 226, and have lowered the units of insulin I take. Of course the doctor, wants me to lose more. I walk every day I am up to 2.3 miles and shooting for 5. I am new to MFP and have been good since I log my food. I have given up wheat, in an attempt to control my blood sugars better. I still eat veggies and some fruit, but no bread or wheat crackers. Add me if you want and I will try to (drag you if I have too, kicking and screaming, LOL) be on this journey with you. Tigress
